se flag

I have Ubuntu 20.04 on a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga 3rd Gen. My laptop often wakes up from suspend just because I rotated it, e.g. when I put it into a rucksack. Is it possible that the rotation sensor for the screen is waking up the laptop? (In the BIOS settings, I've already set the Sleep State to Linux instead of Windows 10, and I've disabled rotating displays in the XFCE desktop environment which I'm u ...

I just installed Ubuntu 21.10 on that mainboard and the i7 12700K. Works well, but cannot see the network.

It seems that there is a driver missing.

Is there a solution for that?

bd flag

I've done this successfully using the same box with mkusb disk creator. Now when I attempt upgrade the system generates a msg

"EFI System Partition (ESP) not usable: Your EFI System Partition (ESP) is not mounted at /boot/efi. Please ensure that it is properly configured and try again."

I cannot for the life of me work out how to configure it correctly. Please and thank you

SOS! Cannot boot Ubuntu, emergency mode, pr.cpu0._pdc error
pl flag

I just powered on my laptop, it said checkdisk is needed, but checkdisk stopped after about 30% and went into first picture's screen. After ctl -xb I faced several errors as in next pictures.

I was running ubuntu 20.04, and tried installing 21.20 but I face the same error. looks like a firmware or efi problem.

Ubuntu 20.04 breaks Nvidia driver regularly

I am using Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS on two machines (my personal computer and a small server from work), both equipped with Nvidia cards. The personal machine has an RTX2080 Super while the server runs with two RTX3090s.

We are doing deep learning research at work, so I use the machines mostly for running TensorFlow or related tools that make use of the GPU.

Switching between NVidia and AMD graphics in runtime

So I have a laptop with AMD/ATI motherboard and NVidia discrete card.

Is there a way to switch between those with a press of a button perhaps? It seems that only NVidia can work with external HDMI whereas it also drains the battery at an alarming rate.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
