How to fix docker container autocompletion
pt flag

I have installed docker on many machines in the past and auto-completion always had just worked out of the box. Strangely, in a new docker install on an Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS (Focal Fossa) virtual machine, when I press tab, nothing happens. I tried it on my WSL terminal, and if I type sudo docker start g and then tab, it autocompletes to sudo docker start gifted_hofstadter. Yet, both only have these tw ...

Dual boot Win 10 & Kubuntu 20.04.3 - default bootloader stays Windows
cn flag

I am trying to get GRUB to be the default bootloader at boot time. I have a Samsung 500 GB SSD and a Crucial m.2 500 GB drive. Windows 10 is on the Samsung SSD. I have installed Kubuntu on the m.2 drive with an EFI partition created in the first 700 MB, and it is designated as the boot sector during installation. The remainder of the drive is allocated to root, swap, and home.

Ubuntu 20.04 freezes without (apparent) reason
np flag

I am experiencing random freezes of the OS on Ubuntu 20.04. I have checked online and there are a lot of other people reporting the same issue. However, none of the solutions proposed worked for me. The only way I can start working again on my laptop is to force a shutdown by pressing the power button. Ctrl+Alt+F1 does not work.

Ubuntu 20.04 Sound in YouTube intermittently stuttering
es flag

No matter what advice I follow - fiddling with /etc/pulse/daemon.cnf or /etc/pulse/default.pa or /usr/lib/alsa/asound.state - it makes no difference: the sound from YouTube keeps hesitating and sometimes I get a burst of what sounds like a square wave.

SSD min-io/physical sector size issue
cn flag

So, I have two identical SSDs (crucial mx500 1TB SATA). I used one to install win10, while the second one was never used. I've put them both into my ubuntu server box and as I ran fdisk and lsblk I noticed that one device is reporting 512/512 for logical/physical sector size (which is also used for minimal/optimal IO size), while second is reporting 512/4096.

Unable to mount old PC HardDrive using CommandLines

I know there are others subjects related but I assure you I went through a lot without finding an answer. It might well be because of my awfully basic knowledge in the domain.

I had an old ASUS G550J Republic of Gamers that broke down some years ago and I now want to get back my data (musics and images mainly).

Intermittent wifi connection on Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS
my flag

I just recently moved to the Linux world, and my welcome has been an intermittent WiFi issue. The connection comes and goes. I have already tried to change the power saving configuration to 2 and disabling the IPv6, and the problem gets fixed for a while, maybe even some days, but then it returns. My last log of the wifi status was the following.

My inode count is drastically larger than file and folder count in a mounted partition
in flag

I've been dealing with an issue whereby df is reporting a much larger usage of an exfat partition mounted onto my system from a USB drive.

df -h gives:

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on

Whereas du -ch reports:

3.7T total

This led me to investigate inode counts using the same methodology.

From df -i I get:

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
