custom date-time format in ubuntu 20.04 top bar does not work as it did previously
cn flag

Custom date-time format worked fine in 18.04, but does not change despite following all instructions I could find. dconf is set to custom with the code I want (%A %-e %B %Y %-I:%M:%S %P %Z) (there are reasons I want this code). But it instead is using %a %b %d %-I:%M:%S %p which is the setting in Tweaks. I tried setting it with terminal. (dconf/org/gnome/shell/extensions/panel-date-format says "No schem ...

Trying to PXE Boot / UEFI Ubuntu 20.04 Server. I've been able to get PXE working, and the image downloads, but after the image downloads, it fails with "Unable to find a live file system on the network" and drops out to busybox.

I feel like this is a problem with my grub config but nothing I do seems to change anything. Here's my grub entry...

Lately my root partition is running out of space which is causing me problems, and I constantly have to free some space in order to avoid it. After 2-3 days my root partition gets full again. The only solution that i find is to increase the size of my root partition, but as a newbie on Linux systems I am afraid of data loss. My laptop has dual boot of Windows 10 / Ubuntu 18.04. Why do I get an Invalid signature error using Grub2?

A year or so ago I installed Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on an Acer laptop (SSD system disk) and also made a rescue/safe experimenting FAT32 partition on the internal HDD with the contents of ubuntu-20.04-desktop-amd64.iso as if it were a bootable USB-stick, by copying the contents of the stick to the partition. Now I can start an Ubuntu live session via the F12 alternative boot selection and I have a Grub2 entry  ...

I plugged my USB (Sandisk cruzer 16 gb) into my dual boot computer which contains windows 10 and Ubuntu.

After I unplugged it, the USB no longer shows up.

I thought it was a problem with Ubuntu so I tried it on windows, but in windows it pops up for just one second and then disappears.

It doesn't show up on my smart TV either.

I then ignored it because it was an old USB and I didn't have any important fil ...

1 or 2 SSDs for dual boot?
in flag

I'm going to buy a SSD for my dual boot PC and let the HD for /home only. While searching I found a site that offer a discount in the second unity. So I could buy a single 512GB SSD or two 256GB SSD for almost the same price. Is there a difference between physically or virtually partitioning like that? Does the performance change at all? Any tip is useful.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
