I only have only one SSD and would like to install a completely independent second Ubuntu 20.04 next to my existing one. Can I just install a second Ubuntu (with an installation stick) onto a new partition on my SSD? Or are there special things I have to  ...

in flag

According to lsb_release -a

Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS Release: 20.04 Codename: focal

What is 20.04.3 LTS? On the downloads page (http://www.releases.ubuntu.com/20.04/), the latest version is 20.04.2 LTS.

Why do I have 20.04.3 rather than 20.04.2?

Mute Shortcut Ctrl+Shift+M does not longer work in Microsoft Teams

I am using Microsoft Teams 1.4.00.13653 on Ubuntu 20.04 with the standard desktop.

Several months ago, I was able to Mute/Unmute during a Call using Ctrl+Shift+M (teams window focused). Some other shortcuts (Ctrl+4 to open the Teams-calendar seem to work)

This is not working anymore since a while. I am note sure if it is due to a teams update or another change to the system.

Ubuntu only starts with black screen on current kernel version (5.11.0-25-generic)
at flag

I am using Ubuntu 20.04 on my HP Elitebook G5, but I have got the problem that it only shows a black screen after startup (after showing the GRUB Manager). When I connect an external display to the laptop, it is working like normal but the internal screen still does not show any image. If I boot the laptop with an older Kernel Version (i.e. 5.8.0-55-generic) then the internal screen is working again.

Any other way to protect root password from being changed?

So I recently found out, that anyone can easily change root password if they have access to grub. I prevented that by adding extra password to it. Why is it made this way? It seems to be absolutely stupid - anyone can easily change your password, which makes it almost useless - maybe just to protect computer from kids. But if I have multiple OS'es, shouldn't locking grub prevent others users from loadin ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
