Why are processors seemingly so active on an Ubuntu 20.04 Server with no appreciable services running in an LXC container?
bd flag

On a minimal Ubuntu 20.04 server that's just been set up (and with some services disabled), I'm finding that htop is conveying that there's more processor activity going on than what I figure should be happening and I'm not sure if (in this unprivileged LXC container) it's picking up activity from other peer virtual machines and containers or if Ubuntu is just behaving very badly.

Running `sudo apt purge python` leads to total system crash

Why am I faced with a total crash of Ubuntu Focal Fossa 20.04 LTS, if I run the following command?

sudo apt purge python*

I don't receive any alert from apt about that action before I start that process!

How can I avoid this precarious software problem and how can I be prepared in the future for cases like this?

Upgrading NVIDIA drivers disabled any possible network connectivity my Ubuntu machine has
cn flag

So I booted up my Ubuntu 21.04 machine after not using it for a long time. Right off the bat, I noticed it was weird how only one of my two monitors hooked up was working, and how I could switch monitors by disconnecting the other; the ability to use both simultaneously suddenly stopped working, and I couldn't see the other inside of the display settings. I also noticed that I couldn't change the refres ...

How to recover level 1 RAID volume?
in flag

One disk in a two-disks level 1 array failed. I added another disk to the array and resynchronization completed successfully. While the synchronization was running, I removed the failed volume and the array filesystem vanished.

So I have two questions:

  1. What happened when I removed the failed array that caused the existing filesystem to vanish?

  2. Is it possible to recover the filesystem on the array?

I recently started using a remote Ubuntu server for development and testing machine. However the hosting provider reported a crypto mining process was running and he had to shut down the server.

There were no logs or any data that could identify that process or anything that could help figure out what happened. Then it happened again, but this time they captured this:

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
