Alternatives to Editing accels.scm File in Thunar?
nl flag

Since GTK3+ removed editable accelerators, everything I've read online suggests I'm stuck having to edit the ~/.config/Thunar/accels.scm file if I want to assign keyboard shortcuts to actions or folders in Thunar. Is there another option? For instance, say I wanted to assign a keyboard shortcut to open a folder in my current Thunar window. Could I do this with a custom action, or maybe a bash script? ...

I have an unused PC that I turned into a server for Minecraft. I installed Ubuntu Server 20.04.4 LTS and set it up.

I want to connect to my server with my Windows 10 PC using the Windows Terminal preferably, or PuTTY. It seemed to be as simple as installing OpenSSH Client and running the command ssh username@12.3.4.56. However, I immediately get an ssh: connect to host 12.3.4.56 port 22: Permissio ...

I tried nordvpn, slack, and now github from android studio. Whenever I try to use an application that provides me a login link, I click it, log in on the browser, and click 'ok' or 'submit'. Then, either a terminal flashes up and quickly disappears, or nothing happens at all.

I've set both chrome and firefox as default browsers, so it's not that. I thought it was just a problem with the individua ...

Running the same code with -u and +u gives different results
cn flag

I have a fairly large set of scripts that is the initial part of creating some debug/logging logic for bash scripts. There is a considerable amount of code in the system. Fortunately I can demonstrate the different results that I cannot explain when the script is run +u and -u. Set variables as tested using +u become unset variables when run with -u. The variabl.e name in this case is $FUNCNAME

Rename a Tab in Thunar?

When I have two or more tabs open in Thunar, I'd like to give each tab a custom name instead of the name of the current directory. Is this possible? If not, is there a way I could implement this using a custom action or bash script?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
