LG Ultrafine 24MD4KL-B not charging via USB-C (Thunderbolt)
ke flag

I'm running Ubuntu 20.04 on a ThinkPad P14s Gen 1 with internal 4K display. I'm currently running the Intel Mesa drivers on X11, but the behavior I'm about to describe is the same with the proprietary Nvidia drivers.

I have two LG UltraFine 4K external displays, that were originally designed for Macs. These are great displays, as they have an unmatched pixel density, connect via USB-C and can also  ...

LXC Profile custom changes are being ignored during container instantiation
fr flag

I need all my containers to automatically upgrade packages, install build-essential and load an ssh key I can use to ssh inside of my container immediately after launching. However even after custom changing my profile and launching a new container using said upgraded profile, none of the features were properly loaded. No ssh key to ssh inside, and no package upgrades. What am I doing wrong?

How to fix black screen on resume for Radeon
cn flag

Ubuntu works great on my Asus laptop, except Resume (after suspend) gives a black screen. I have seen many solutions but these are always for NVidia, while I have a Radeon chipset.

I also had, since the latest Ubuntu 20.04LTS updates, often a grey screen at boot, but fortunately could fix this by adding the kernel parameter nomodeset.

I tried kernel param: acpi_osi= but this could not boot at all. with  ...

Remap Logitech T400 middle click

I have a Logitech T400. This mouse has two "middle click buttons":

Button A is mapped to the regular middle click, which is what I want. But button B is mapped to Super L which is useless, I want to map it also to the regular middle click too. I am using Ubuntu 20.04.

I looked into this question of someone asking the same. None of the answers worked for me. I also tried

system can not find latest versions of packages

My ubuntu system (21.04) can not find the latest packages that are available, which is a real hassle in installating packages.

For example, I want to install gdal-bin 3.4.1. If I run apt search gdal-bin the only version that shows is 3.2.2. To circumvent this, I downloaded the 3.4.1 version manually here. However, the system can not find the latest versions of the dependencies (which are a lot) a ...

Can I download a new keyboard definition for the layout Canadian Multilingual (CSA keyboard) ?

It's not what I am used to and as one might guess it is pretty annoying.

Even if I select the same configuration settings, the Keyboard is not of the same layout, I do not understand why.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
