I am trying to install ghmm (the general hidden markov model) library in Ubuntu 18.04. For some reason the conda channel is not responding, it is taking forever to finish this conda install -c bioconda ghmm. Is there a reliable source from where I can install ghmm ?

Thanks.

ssh known_hosts file not using hostnames anymore
de flag

I'm running into this weird issue when I ssh into a new machine but my known_hosts file gets updated with a hash of sorts but not the hostname. This ends up with me not being able to autocomplete when I later try to SSH into that same machine.

for instance:

last 2 lines of my known_hosts file:

10.1.x.xx ecdsa-sha2-nistp256 AAAAE2VjZHNhLXN ... the rest of the hash

Ubuntu qemu Display output to logfile
in flag

we install our Ubuntu 20.04.3 with packer and qemu. Since we are working without a display output, the question now is whether it would be possible to put the output into a log file.

We activated the qemu and packer debug log, unfortunately we don't get any display output and couldn't track where the nographic installation is at the moment.

NextCloud - MySQL Broken Packages Error

I'm still pretty new to the Linux/Terminal world, but I've really fallen in love with all the neat tools and doors open to this OS. I am trying to set up NextCloud on Ubuntu Server 20.04.3, following this guide. I am personally trying to avoid using the snap, as I've had issues with them in the past. I was able to install Apache2 without issue, but when I try to install mysql-server, I get the followi ...

Ubuntu 18.04. LTS: ZFS-installer wrong partion on boot?

I hope someone can help me out with my ZFS problem or has some suggestions to use ZFS for the Ubuntu installtion or some other way.

I used the zfs-installer from here and successfully installed it with Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (it's a recommended version). I have configured two 1 TB disks in a ZFS mirror. But now I see with df -h that the system boots from the 12 GB (I guess the install) partion, which is also  ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
