Just got Ubuntu for the first time. When I go into Settings -> Sounds, I have a different input (Microphone - built-in audio) than output (Speakers - Built in audio). However, in software/websites where there's input/output configurations (eg. Zoom, discord, google meet..), these do not appear and "Built-In Audio Analog Stereo" is the only option that appears in both input and output. This results in ...

I have a MSI mother board and a SSD drive for dual system booting.

It worked fine until suddenly it showed cannot find memory block on hd2 or something like that. I didn't pay attention and rebooted the PC. Then I could only access Windows system. I rebooted again, then I couldn't access either.

I prepared a boot-repair usb drive, and auto-repaired it. But it shows

How to disable temporary dynamic ipv6 addresses in Ubuntu 21.10?
us flag

By default Ubuntu 21.10 (should be the same for 20.04) does generate temporary/privacy IPV6 addresses. I would like to disable this behavior in order to make my computer into a server, and to do so I would like to have an IPV6 address as stable as possible (notably to ease of process of configuring a DNS name without using DDNS, at least for the IPV6 address).

When looking at ip -6 address it looks like ...

My Chrome context menus have very low contrast, which makes it hard to select a context menu items via the keyboard (using the mouse you can see where the pointer is).

You can (barely) see in the picture below that the "Reload" item is selected: it's ever so slightly darker text and ever so slightly shaded.

Other applications (LibreOffice Writer, Thunderbird) do not have this issue, pretty high cont ...

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Mouse suddenly stopped working

Original Ubuntu 20.04 LTS installation on a Western Digital 500 GB SSD worked without a problem for 6 months. On a day the mouse pointer would suddenly not respond. Looked for possible answers and tried everything that seemed remotely possible. No joy. Had the SSD tested at the local computer store. Was assured that it was in perfect working condition. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
