us flag

After a recent system upgrade Xorg can no longer load the nvidia module.

At first I went to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia ran the

sudo ubuntu-drivers devices

and followed the process of purging the existing drivers and installing the recommended drivers (for me, 470).

After a big long run and reboot, same thing.

tried,

sudo update-initramfs -u

How do I expand my Linux partition in a Windows/Linux Dualboot?
pk flag

I am currently dualbooting Windows 11 and Ubuntu on a 512GB NVME SSD on my laptop. Recently, I've pretty much stopped using Windows, so I want to shrink my Windows partition and expand my BTRFS Linux partition, however, I created a separate EFI partition to prevent Windows updates from messing up the boot files, and that EFI partition is between my Windows Partition and my Linux Partition:

How to get touchpad & scrolling fixed with Ubuntu?
jp flag

With Ubuntu 21.10 and Kernel version "5.13.0-28-generic", the touchpad is not working. In the "Mouse & Touchpad" settings, there is no option seen for "touchpad".
Some of the old answers suggest to get kernel version 5.11, but mine is even more latest.

Are there any device drivers missing... How to get it fixed?

pg flag

I did sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade and it stated something along the lines of the upgrade was not completely successful and asked if I wanted to do a partial upgrade or continue. I did the partial upgrade and it changed my OS to Pop! OS. How do I go back to what I previously had i.e. Ubuntu 20.04? I restored a backup but the OS is still the same.

How to rescue after apt install or upgrade fills disk space and breaks?

I'd like to know if there is an official way to rescue from a botched install due to filled disk space. Working with VMs and trying to conserve space on golden images has led me to this problem several times. I can usually remedy it by using ncdu -x / and deleting unneeded files, but apt install ncdu has to installed beforehand. I've also used journalctl --vacuum-size=5M to reduce the system log file. I want to mount a Box drive onto wsl2 so that I can access the same locally/cloud synced files on two different systems (windows and linux). Box is a FAT32 file system, which I believe is supported by drvfs mount.

I can mount it just fine if I mount it from the .bashrc file using the following mount command:

sudo mount -t drvfs 'C:\Users\Jakda\Box' /mnt/box

I can then access /mnt/box via a symbolic link  ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
