After maximizing applications, sometimes they cause the screen to go blank - maximizing YouTube will work fine, until it doesn't and I have to exit full screen using a keybind, and go back into it. Games will either alternate rapidly between the screen functioning, and it working - or, it will not work during certain scenes. A good example is in Valheim, during regular gameplay it will exhibit the behav ...

Black screen while installing ubuntu server 20.04.3
in flag

I have been attempting to install Ubuntu server 20.04.3 onto a Dell Precision 5810 using both legacy and UEFI. After I press enter to install the OS, the screen goes black and I am not able to see if the install, or if anything is happening. I have tried both a flashed USB by Etcher and a DVD to install. Both have the same outcome. Are there any other options for installation?

We are using Packer 1.7.10 under VirtualBox 6.1.30 on macOS 11.6.3 to build development VMs based on Ubuntu Server 20.04.3, using cloud-init autoinstall from the server ISO. The user-data file includes a long list of packages to install during the first boot.

When it works, it works well. But frequently installing those packages will fail, 15 or 20 minutes into the build. What is visible of the i ...

As the title says. It doesn't seem to be part of FHS, and I could not find much in google. I'm wondering which applications write there, on which occasions, and for what purposes.

Is there a similar solution to get WOL to work on Ubuntu 20.04

I have an HP EliteBook and am trying to enable Wake-on-Lan but I was not able to get it to work. The BIOS doesn't have a WOL setting.

I did some searching and found this link: https://support.hp.com/ro-en/document/c04955641. My laptop is listed here. Is there a similar process I can follow on Ubuntu 20.04?

Thank you

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
