systemd networking basics: cannot switch from DHCP to static IP address

QF0

I'm just starting with systemd networking, and I can't set up a new system with a static IP address. This is a default Ubuntu 20.04 server, and network-manager and ifupdown are not installed (so no /etc/network/interfaces, etc).

By default, the server boots up with DHCP enabled, and gets an IP address, and everything works. I've now added an /etc/systemd/network/static.network file which contains ...

Both NBFC-LINUX and NBFC do not work

I tried to use NBFC and NBFC-linux to control my laptop fans. In the beginning, everything worked out just fine. And after approximately 4 days, NBFC-linux stopped working. I thought I might be able to fix my problem by installing NBFC. However, the problem persists. I have already tried reinstalling NBFC-linux several times. Everytime the service status seems to be just fine, but the current fan speed  ...

Getting latest nvidia driver through software an updates
in flag

Is there A way I can install the latest driver https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/unix/

Using the software and updates manager rather than directly? In my experience manually installing the driver comes at the cost of more instability, but the 495 proprietary driver does not support vulkan 1.3, which I need atm.

I have noticed, that the Ubuntu keyboard German Macintosh does not match the real German Macintosh layout in the 3rd and 4th level. Specially the 3rd level - u code is a ¨ as a dead key, allowing combination with e and i. That does not work on Ubuntu. Also the 3rd level c is not assigned to ç like it should be. Looking for an example of software (or code) that can render a window "over" (z-order) system menus
in flag

I'm using Talon accessibility software which magnifies an area of the screen based on eye-tracking. Usually, the magnified area will appear "on top" (covering) the "normal window", but this doesn't work with "system menus" such as:

  • Calendar menu
  • Power-off/Log-out menu
  • Window control menu (Alt+Space)

These menus cover the screen magnifier, rather than the other way around.

It looks like this:

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
