Shortcut to change screen scale
br flag

Is there a way to easily change the scale percentage (between 100% and 200%) with a shortcut on Ubuntu 20.04 with Gnome? I use my computer both with a regular screen which doesn't need scaling and a 4K projector which requires a scale of 200% for me to see what I'm doing.

I know there is the screen parameter where I can change the scale, but I want a faster way to do it.

Launcher for Firefox starts default profile instead of the specified profile
za flag

I have created a new profile for Firefox and created the .desktop launcher for this new profile as per this article: How can I use two Firefox profiles?

The launcher works as intended when I left click on it in the Application Display: it launches the specified profile (that I have newly created). But when I add it to Favorites and launch it from the Launcher sidebar, it starts the default profile ...

install 21.10 & then upgrade to Kernel 5.16 without going online
cn flag

My wifi card only works with 5.16

If I install Ubuntu 21.10 I will not be able to get online until I upgrade the kernel to 5.16 (ethernet is not an option)

What is the simplest way to accomplish this?

If there was a way to get a liveISO with 5.16 that would be perfect obviously, but Im not sure thats an option.

Ubuntu black screen after login
cn flag

So a few days ago, after login into my Ubuntu (18.04) it was showing nothing but a black screen. I tried updating it to 20.04 through tty. It didn't work. What worked is at last by deleting ~/.config/monitors.xml.

Yesterday, again black screen appeared after login.. so I deleted the file again. But this time it didn't work. Then I created my own monitors.xml by changing display settings in nomodeset. ...

Never seen this screen before not sure what to do

I recently upgraded to Windows 11. I am not sure if this is what caused the problem or if it is some other underlying issue, but I tried to boot Ubuntu today using Oracle VirtualBox and I was greeted by this screen that I keep getting every time I boot up.

Is WPA3 support depends on hardware or software (or both)?
cn flag

I upgraded my router's firmware to OpenWrt 21.02 which introduces WPA3 support.

My experience is awful about that. Devices (tablets, phones, laptops) can't estabilish connection, except when I switch encryption to WPA2.

If I'am not mistaken, WPA3 support added to Ubuntu in 20.04 LTS. In Android platform, this feature added in Android 10. My laptops run Ubuntu 20.04 and a few Android devices run Andr ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
