Hi!

I am fairly new to Ubuntu and just upgraded from 21.04 to 21.10 and really love the update. I installed postman and beekeeper yesterday so I can fully work offline at home doing back end stuffs and I am right now stuck looking for a solution to fix the missing icons or (I don't know) maybe they are just texts not rendering properly in this new version. Never encountered something like this in 21.04 a ...

Error can't find of link to hdf5 libary while installing Netcdf 4
bf flag

I'm trying to install Netcdf 4 which supports an air quality model that I will compile after finishing this netcdf installation.

However, I faced the "error: Can't find or link to the hdf5 library" which I found several solutions from your website and others, however, all do not work.

My steps to install include:

#install zlib:
tar xvzf zlib-1.2.11.tgz
cd zlib-1.2.11
mkdir /usr/local/zlib-1.2.11

grub won't boot, Without doing anything to the terminal and running the boot command, I get this response error: you need to load the kernel first., so I looked around online and find people doing these steps:

set root=(hd0,1)
linux /boot/vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/sda1
initrd /boot/linux.img
boot

Since my root filesystem isn't in "(hd0,1)/", its in "(lvm/volgroup0-lv_root)/", I had to change the dire ...

apt stopped, dpkg.log shows several 'status half-configured'
cn flag

I am running Budgie 20_04.

Recently my notebook twice shut down with 'thermal_zone0: acpitz: critical temperature reached' while I was updating software via the apt gui. I assume the (post) installation scripts have already been running while this emergengy shutdown occured. Possibly this is the reason that I see some 'status half-configured' in dpkg.log. Now I plan to avoid the apt gui, and I tr ...

My local DNS is continuously changed
hu flag

At home I run a Raspberry Pi with PiHole. Every device obtain its IP via DHCP and some devices have a reserved address. The router is configured to offer my Raspberry Pi as primary DNS, for every device this works well, except for my laptop with Ubuntu.

Quite often (like every day) my DNS is changed to my second DNS option. I can revert this change with resolvectl dns <interface> <ip>

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
