When I installed ubuntu, I gave it 30 gb think that I wasn’t going to use it much. Well, now I am short on space and I’d like to give it some more. I have a 50 gb chunk sitting in front of the partition that ubuntu is installed on, but I cannot figure out how to add it to the partition.

Ubuntu 21.10 server install randomly crashes
gn flag

Really not sure whats going on. I'm trying to install Ubuntu Server 21.10 on a new machine with an i5-11600 and a Gigabyte Z590 Gaming X motherboard. The installer however keeps crashing in two main places.

I've attached a video below but can't see any useful messages (as is the case with the other crash).

The crash results in the computer switching off and restarting entirely.

What is the preferred way to install Viber in a 21.10 desktop environment
jp flag

In my previous ubuntu installs I've downloaded a deb for 12.04 from the viber website. From there I have needed to install some dependencies; not a biggie. But now I'm seeing viber in the snap store. I'm thinking cool, this should be easy.

"viber-unofficial" snap is missing a dependency on glibc 2.33. I thought snaps would include their dependecies. "viber-mtd" - Viber desktop support ubuntu. D ...

Ubuntu 20.04.3 rtl_rxtx_empty_cond == 0 (loop: 42, delay: 100). error. can't boot into OS
jp flag

I've reinstalled Ubuntu 20.04.3 (dual-boot(Windows 10)). When trying to boot into Ubuntu I get some kind of error message.

I'm a new user, might've messed up something.

Nevermind, turns out internet didn't work for windows 10 either, ran a troubleshooter. Looks like ip wasn't set up. everything works fine now.

Multipass - Commandline?
in flag

I've tried using multipass. When I click on multipass in the startmenu it does not show anything dealing with a shell. It has a run as administrator option but this does nothing. I had an ubuntu CLI option in the start menu and when I tried to update it asked me for a password. I tried my passwords and they were all incorrect.

Can any one provide some assistance as to what I am doing wrong?

Installed Grub on External Drive - Still Needs Main Drive to Boot
br flag

I have a secondary drive just for Linux, so when I installed Kubuntu, I chose an installer option to just install GRUB on my secondary drive. As expected, when I boot my PC, it goes straight to Windows, and I have to press F12 to go to the boot menu and choose Ubuntu to see GRUB and get into Ubuntu.

Recently, I pulled my main drive, and I expected my PC to boot into Ubuntu, but I can't boot into  ...

Installing parallel Ubuntu alongside the productive system

To make it short:

  1. I am on Ubuntu Budgie 20.04, all apps are running (including special research software and all I need for my work)
  2. I want to test the new Ubuntu (not Budgie, because Gnome got the horizontal workflow I use) 22.04 in parallel to the productive system

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
