Keyboard keys has to be pressed for 1 second during Ubuntu login screen to be picked up
fi flag

During login in Ubuntu I have to press each key for around 1 second so that it can be picked up. The keyboard work flawlessly after login though and even if I switched to other terminals before login, the keyboard works fine as well.

I have tried couple of keyboards and both of them showing the same behavior so it is not a keyboard issue.

The weird thing is that it works very fine in other terminals ...

No sound from line-out and headphone sound is low
fi flag

I am facing an issue with my sound, and while trying to fix it I made it even worse.

It started with my rear line-out stopped working. I was connecting a headphone there using a Y splitter. So the sound is connected to line-out and the mic is connected to the Mic input. This was working fine and also the front headphone and mic was working just fine. I used them as well using the Y splitter.

I performed a fresh installation of Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS on my Lenovo V570c and there is no Wi-Fi adapter right from the start.

The terminal shows:

I checked the BIOS and Wi-Fi is enabled. Ubuntu 20.04.3 is the only operating system on this PC. If this information is not enough, please ask for more.

Blank screen with no grub menu
ru flag

I tried to customize Ubuntu and broke my installation. I tried reinstalling Ubuntu without a USB or DVD by using grml-rescueboot to boot to a live environment. The installer failed. I suspect it failed because it couldn't create a partition. Now my computer boots to a black screen. I can't even get to the GRUB menu.

The partition table:

/dev/sda1 - efi - 533mb

/dev/sda2 - / - 245gb

/dev/sda3 - /home ...

Ubuntu 20.04 with two GPUs OpenCL issue
ng flag

I have an ASUS AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus motherboard with AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU, 16GB of RAM running Ubuntu 20.04. I've had an AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT GPU installed and it all works great.

I recently picked up an ASUS TUF AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT GPU card and am trying to get both GPUs to work in the system.

When either card is installed alone, things work perfectly. But if I install both at the same ti ...

I've installed Ubuntu 20.04 on my Xiaomi Notebook 13. For some reason wifi connection disappears shortly after I boot laptop (possibly after connection to wifi network, which happens after reboot, I'm not sure). Wifi icon disappears from status bar, also "Wifi" section disappears from laptop preferences.

I've just tried to connect to new wifi network. I turn on laptop (no known wifi networks) and ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
