I have made a full memory backup of my rooted Android phone and I would like to be able to mount the images of the Internal Memory and the SD Card in Ubuntu.

Libre Office writer gives me only a tiny icon
ch flag

I have used writer daily for many months, but since yesterday it does not come up. I get a very small double icon for my file and all it does is allow me to close.

I messed with settings to no avail. I tried advice on the internet. One said to trash Libre Office prior to reinstalling and now I can't restore it. I tried reinstalling with a sudo and got the error that Office writer cannot be found. ...

D-Link DUB-E250 2.5Gb USB-C network adapter not running at full speed
cx flag

I am trying to use a D-Link DUB-E250 network adapter but it doesn't run at its full speed. I'm not sure if it's even possible but I'd like to dig in a little to see if I've missed something. Perhaps needs a driver that I don't have.

Firstly, while it's a USB-C device I'm running it through a USB-C to USB-A adapter. The other end is a QNAP 2.5Gb switch which certainly works for a QNAP NAS which is ...

I want to remove 3.28.tar.bz2 file and install 3.30.tar.bz2 file, how can I do that?
in flag

I am using Ubuntu WSL on windows 10 latest version and maybe I installed an older version of tar.bz2 file by using the command:

wget https://www.nsnam.org/release/ns-allinone-3.28.tar.bz2
tar xvjf ns-allinone-3.28.tar.bz2

I got a build error during this process. Can someone please tell me how can I remove this 3.28.tar.bz2 file? So that I can install 3.30.tar.bz2 file.

Thank you.

Restore data after I accidentally deleted Ubuntu
br flag

I accidentally deleted the partition with Ubuntu (I use dual boot with Windows 11) and would like to restore the data or if possible the whole operating system. I have already tried with TestDisk and with a wrong input I only see the UEFI settings and Windows is no longer shown as a boot option (it is an Asus computer). Thanks in advance for the help.

Getting to a live session while installing Kubuntu

I have a Dell Inspiron and my Windows partition is unusable. I want to repartition the machine so that I can use the Dell recovery image, which is supposed to be bulletproof but isn't.

I plan to do that by starting a live Kubuntu session, operating from memory, which will enable me to apply gparted/kparted to the disk. (You can't apply gparted to the disk during an ordinary disk-based session. ev ...

Ubuntu 21.10 - Thunderbird 91.x.x drops (movemail) mbox support!
ru flag

I just upgraded from Ubuntu 21.04 to Ubuntu 21.10.

Baring a few glitches here and there, it's now running ok.

However, I just discovered that Thunderbird 91.x.x removed movemail support! That means that I've lost support for my /var/mail/* mboxes!

Other than installing another mail program, like possibly Evolution, is there any way to get to my mboxes again?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
