Is there a way to get a log of *active* computer-use?
pr flag

I would like to log the amount of time I spend in front of the computer - so not uptime for the PC, but the amount of time where I'm actively using input (mouse/keyboard).

The worktimer workrave does something like that - you can set an interval and after that, it will display a break-timer. But if you don't use the mouse/keyboard for perhaps 30 secs, the timer is suspended. So it can be done.

Ubuntu 20.04 crash whenever I open my settings
cn flag

I've installed Ubuntu 20.04 on my desktop, no problem at installation, but when I tried logging in, I was stuck in a login loop. I managed to fix the problem by launching Ubuntu in Wayland mode once. But now, whenever I'm in the 'regular' mode and I open any kind of settings, to change background, display, or just opening the settings, my session crashes.

Here are the logs for these crashes, I op ...

SAMBA_4.11.6_UBUNTU not found
in flag

I've recently opened a thread here with an identical title which suggested to me that I purge my samba and reinstall it based on an older question posted in this forum.

I thought everything was fixed when I purged samba as I no longer had apt-get errors, however, I realized that the problem still persist when I just realized that my gnome-control-center is using broken SAMBA libraries.

How to deny a specific user to even list a specific path?
cn flag

I read many QAs here, but none of them could answer me, so I decided to ask.

Let's say I've just created a new user son, and I want him to have sudo permission so he can install new packages [it's done by adding him to sudoers].

I don't want him to be able to list or read or do anything else under /root and /home, but have full access in /home/son. It means, he can't ls /home and if there is a file

I have Asus Zenbook UX325EA with Ubuntu 21.10 installed on it with kernel version 5.13.0-21-generic.

By default the sleep mode in the system was set to s2idle:

Aldea# cat /sys/power/mem_sleep

Since this discharges the battery quite fast when suspended, I have changed it to deep by doing this:

Aldea# echo 'deep' > /sys/power/mem_sleep

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
