problem with making a c++ project with G++
aq flag

I am trying to build cascade library using G++ 8.3.0. In the documentation they mention that it was tested on G++ 4.7.2. My question is, is it necessary to downgrade to 4.7.2? if so could you please tell me how? because I tried both 4.8 (oldest version available according to $which gcc command) and 8.3.0 to build cascade and received the following error:

How to restore or reinstall Print Service
ru flag

I've been looking for days, but have been unable to find anything on how to restore or reinstall Print Service. I'm using Kubuntu 20.04 which the Prints--System Settings Module is now saying the Print Service is unavailable (dead) and a "bad file descriptor". I've only been able to find items that are written for other programmers rather than for a simple user, except one on YouTube that doesn't work as ...

As the title says, my audio sounds flat on Ubuntu but fine on Windows. It's also much quieter on Ubuntu.

It sounds fine through headphones.

I've tried adjusting Alsamixer, it looks like everything is how it should be 1

I've tried PulseEffects and PulseAudio to alter the sound quality with no success. PulseAu ...

I want to modify the gdm3 package. I need a ifeq condition in the rules file, which should check whether systemd is installed. If systemd is the init system, then different build options are used. I thought about using the SYSTEMD_EXEC_PID environment variable, how can I do this?

Launch ISO file to KVM Virtual Machine from File Manager
ae flag

In some previous version of Ubuntu, I recall the file manager had this feature where you could launch an operating system's iso file into a KVM virtual machine just by right-clicking the ISO and selecting a menu-option. It would immediately bring up an window where the iso was actually booting!

I'd like to enable that feature in Dolphin, but I can't seem to find info on how to do it. What is this ...

Kernel panic on read syscall. Could the RAM be broken?
ec flag

I have an issue with a computer, where it randomly crashes sometimes, completely out of nowhere, and has to be force-shutdown to be used again. After looking into the kernel logs using journalctl -k -b -1, a possible culprit was spotted, as seen in the kernel log below. It seems that when processing the __x64_sys_read function, which directly corresponds to the read syscall to read from file descriptors, ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
