Installing drivers for my NetGear AC600 A6100 without internet access, is it possible?
mx flag

I downloaded many different versions of this driver (not at the same time of course) on to a USB stick, but no matter which one I use, Ubuntu never seems to acknowledge the fact that it's there. I have no idea how to install the files from the USB to the computer. I've tried to open the install files in the terminal, but as soon as I check the box that allows these files to open in terminal, it immediat ...

Black screen after installing Kubuntu 20.04

I’m wiping my Windows 10 system with a fresh install of Kubuntu 20.04 using a bootable USB. I boot up the .iso file and Kubuntu starts its installation process. It finishes the installation and says I need to restart my PC to finalize the install.

I click “Restart Now” and the PC goes into a black screen. It stays on the black screen and nothing changes. This is my second time installing wi ...

Ubuntu/Windows dual boot with Ubuntu first
cn flag

I bought a Dell G3 laptop with Windows preinstalled on a large hdd, knowing that I'd want to run Ubuntu 18.04 from a SSD. Without starting Windows, I installed the SSD with Ubuntu 18.04 and went on my way, but now I have a program that will only run under Windows. How can I boot into Windows to set it up and add an entry to my boot menu?

Thanks in advance.

Photo paper printouts are unsatisfactory
br flag

I have a Canon Pix-ma MP210 printer. I have several photos/images that I would like to print. However, images printed on photo paper look like a negative on film and are not clear. Printing on regular paper is fine. But on photo paper looks horrible. I have not had this issue before. Is there a driver that I need? Or, is there some other issue going on here? Certain commands dont work . How do I fix it?
in flag

I've successfully managed to install Ubuntu server 18.04. Most of my sudo commands work fine, however, I am having issues running the cd/cp commands. ie: whenever I type cd/ I get:

-bash: cd/: No such file or directory.

The same thing happens when I type cat auth.log and when I use q to quit. The program suggested installing python, which I did; but still no results. Please advise, thank you.

Trying to change the permissions for /var/log/cloud-init.log to meet STIG compliance. Every time I change them to 0640 and reboot it reverts back to 0644. Spent the last week search for a solution with no luck.

Can Wine run Fork, the git client?
cn flag

I'm new to Linux and the only contact I have had with Wine-like software is through Steam's Proton, which works surprisingly well (though it is taylored for their platform, so it makes sense to work so well).

The thing is that I'm planning on 100% move my operations to Linux (Ubuntu) and that includes my software development operations too. I have a Fork license and the developer says they won't  ...

perf-stat does not work for 1ms time interval

I am using Ubuntu 18.04 and running the perf stat command to get some information on various hardware events for an application. I notice on doing sudo perf stat --interval-print 1, I get an error saying print interval must be >= 10ms. However, in the Ubuntu and Linux manual pages (https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man1/perf-stat.1.html), it mentions that the minimum for interval-print is 1ms. By d ...

Audio issues with Sound Blaster Audigy FX PCIe 5.1 sound card on all Ubuntu-based distros

Should I instead just go with an external DAC and AMP to not worry about those sound issues, or wha ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
