Computer doesn't sleep on disk decryption screen
mx flag

I am using Ubuntu 20.04 with LUKS full-disk encryption. When I enter the screen that asks me to enter the encryption key, the computer doesn't suspend until I've entered it. On two occasions, I have placed my laptop in my bag at this screen, causing it to overheat. Is there some setting, whether at the OS level or lower, that can have the computer sleep in this case?

I installed latte-dock a while ago, and it was working fine. A few days ago it crashed and now it doesn't zoom the icons or have any transparency, as you can see in the following screenshot. In short, it's not as good-looking now.

I have uninstalled and installed in again, but it started the same as it was before.

the current article about FDE at help.ubuntu takes Ubuntu 18.04 into account, which in turn does not contain some required modules for encrypting the first-stage GRUB boot-loader files. So i would like to know how to encrypt it, or some other up-to-date article

In both cases the first-stage GRUB boot-loader files are not (and cannot) be encrypted or protected th ...

Getting rid of a second taskbar
pe flag

linux newbie here.

I recently installed ubuntu 18.04 over windows 10 yesterday, and was trying to make the taskbar somewhat like the windows one. Along the journey I somehow ended up with 2 taskbars and am confused at how I would get rid of it. I have the default one (which I want to keep), and this. I am wondering what extension that gnome has would produce such a taskbar. For some extra information,

Ubuntu only sees the first partition on an external (USB) disk drive

I connected an external (1TB) hard disk drive to my computer. It is automatically mounted on /media/$USER/Seagate Backup Plus Drive. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
