In Kubuntu, how do I start a new instance from taskbar with meta+shift+number?
er flag

In Ubuntu or Windows, I can press win/super/meta+shift+number to open a new application instance that is pinned to the taskbar (the number denotes which app to open). But after I switched to Kubuntu-desktop, this combination does not work. The only thing that works is meta+number opens a new instance if no instance is already opened; and switches to the opened instance if there already is one. Addi ...

Can I create two "independent workspaces" with the same hardware/laptop on different SSDs?
us flag

I have one laptop with two SSD slots. I'm considering buying an SSD for the second slot to create "two independent workspaces" with the same hardware/laptop.

The OS (both Ubuntu), applications, storage, should be completely independent, i.e., I don't want the admin/users on SSD1 to see the the admin/users on SSD2. If one application is only installed in SSD1, I don't want the users on SDD2 to hav ...

System showing alert after plugging in headphones

My system is showing a symbol after plugging headphones in. Whenever I play any song or video the symbol disappers until I stop the music. The sound quality is fine, so there is no problem with the headphones. This issue started last week, and I have Ubuntu 20.04 LTS installed.

External Hard Disk failure?

Rei

First of all sorry if this is a duplicate question but I just want to make sure that I don't erase anything from my Hard disk.

Anyway, my Hard disk is a Seagate Backup Plus Slim and I used it on Windows for a decent amount of time(3~5 months).

I decided to also use it for my Linux system(Ubuntu Studio 20.04LTS).

I then put some Ardour and Blender projects on it and tried to copy some of them into my La ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
