Trying to fix Dell active pen but Python driver won't run
ru flag

I'm very new to Linux and have absolutely no programming background, so apologies if there's an obvious answer here that I missed.

My computer is an Inspiron 7391 2-in-1. I'm running Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS.

My Dell active pen isn't registering pressure differences. I tried it in both Krita and MyPaint. I searched and saw that this has been asked before, but the solution I found hasn't worked.

Configure network access
us flag

I am trying to configure my Ubuntu (20.04) server on an old laptop, and there is something I do not understand about the configuration. From the ISP router's settings, I can see that it allocated the wifi IP 192.168.1.66 to the server, and lan IP 192.168.1.111 - I've also set the router to always give this IPs to the server and forward HTTP/S to 192.168.1.111. But being new to server-ing, I have to ask: ...

Ubuntu on HP ProLiant servers

I am trying to install Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS on a HP ProLiant DL360e Gen8 to no avail. The installation always fails shortly after the installer partitions the disk. The SATA mode is set to AHCI. Note that this model is not certified for Ubuntu, only SLES and RHEL.

Besides, this server has a fake RAID solution called "HP Smart Array B120i". Even if I have configured a logical RAID volume, Ubunt ...

20.10 problems with full-upgrade on spamassassin and libdvdcss

After running sudo apt update and sudo apt full-upgrade I still have the messages quoted at the end.

How to fix this?

As a workaround, I have installed libdvdcss manually as explained here and I may try the same with spamassassin but I would prefer to use Ubuntu packages.

web cam does not work ubuntu 21.04 with Lenovo X1 Gen 9
pl flag

I can not get the integrated web cam working on my Lenovo X1 Gen 9 with Ubuntu 21.04. When opening Cheese I only see a black screen. It works with an external USB web cam. I have installed the latest updates and the latetes BIOS (1.39). The web cam shutter is open (no red dot).

Does anybody else has this problem and knows a solution? Any help is very appreciated.

GNOME stop detecting opened desktop apps instances on dash to dock
pk flag

Sometimes GNOME's dash to dock add-on loses open app instances and launch a new one, when I already am using one instance, this is not a workspace issue because the apps are opened in same workspace. It just loses tracing of what is open and launches again and it's very anoying.

It is happening on Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS and GNOME Shell 3.36.9

Anybody knows what it could be??

Screen refresh shows lines going up
ru flag

I'm kinda a new linux user, and I was using a Kubuntu distribution... Once I installed it, I noticed the screen image updating in a weird way...

The problem is this, and it happens both when moving windows, or even watching a film, so I guess that the problem is the refresh of the screen https://youtu.be/rRIsG84wGUY

I have updated my drivers to the last version. I have an NVidia 1050 mobile.

Ubuntu drive not recognized after deleting /tmp folder

I know this question is quite popular but in my case I can't use any of the given advice.

I've accidentally deleted /tmp folder, my PC froze so I had to hard reboot it. Now it won't recognize the drive as bootable. What can I do to fix it?

I have a thumb drive with Ubuntu that I could use but I can't get to my drive with terminal.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
