Limtied Audio Function in Ubuntu 21.04

When will Ubuntu improve the out of the box audio options? Example: Audio input selection. Why can't I allow the output to be recorded? Why can't I send output to multiple devices? Why doesn't it recognize my USB Midi keyboard? Why can't I allow multiple inputs? Installing 3rd party apps isn't always stable or desired when latency and CPU/GPU are crunching data at extreme rates for audio/video proce ...

How do I connect an Ubuntu machine to a Windows VPN?
cn flag

On Windows 10 I'm able to connect to my company's VPN easily by going to VPN settings:

  • "Add a VPN connection"
  • Selecting "Windows (built in)" as the VPN provider
  • Typing in the server name (remote.company.net)
  • Leaving the VPN Type as "Automatic"
  • Finally adding in my company username

On my Ubuntu machine, I go to Add VPN:

Ubuntu Touch On Pixel 3a: Re-locking bootloader?
cn flag

Recently installed Ubuntu Touch onto a brand new Pixel 3a; installation seems stable and no issues present. However on boot the phone reminds me the bootloader is unlocked still. Is it possible to re-lock the bootloader? Specifically without reverting the install or bricking the phone (or will I have to keep the bootloader unlocked permanently)?

I am having a hard time pairing my new Airpods pro to my laptop (Thinkpad P15-Gen-1 running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS). I did the editing of sudo nano /etc/bluetooth/main.conf to set ControllerMode = bredr as many other posts have suggested. When I run journalctl -f, I see that I get the following message when I try to pair my Airpods:

Installing Ubuntu on HP Omen Desktop
gh flag

I recently decided to try installing Ubuntu on my PC (an HP Omen 25L desktop) alongside Windows 10 to dual boot. The system has two drives: an SSD for the OS and a larger HDD for data storage. When I try installing Ubuntu from a USB, it doesn't detect the SSD and tries to install on the HDD, which is obviously not what I want. Poking around, I found that this is often because Windows systems with multip ...

ubiquity installer fails to install grub to correct path

am I missing something or why can't grub always be installed where it is directed to with manual partitioning + preseed?

I use a preseed file for xubuntu 20.04.2 desktop that is devoid of partitioning directives. when "automatic-ubiquity" is booted, after manually partitioning sda selecting /dev/sda1 is ignored and grub is installed into /dev/sda.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
