My Laptop (Alienware m15 - 2018) microprocessor (Cannon Lake) is overheating on Ubuntu 20.04 (without running any app) unlike Microsoft windows 10, can you please tell me how can I solve this problem?

accidentally deleted EFI partition, system is still running!
it flag

I am running Ubuntu 20.04, I accidentally deleted the EFI partition (Damn GParted!) The system is still running. Can I create a new partition in the now UNUSED area, set the EFI flag and boot flag, and then just run update-grub? Will update-grub repopulate the EFI partition? Can I DD the EFI partition from another Ubuntu install?

Quick replies, Greatly Appreciated!

Ubuntu 20.04 Audio Totally broken. There's no sound and detects headphones all the time

I've a big problem. The sound of my pc has a lot of problems.

My laptop detects headphones all the time even when there is nothing plugged in. Also doesn't make any sound when I tried to use '''pulseaudio --kill & pulseaudio --start''' did not fix the problem. I need to use multiple times pulseaudio --kill like it was more than a pulseaudio.

When creating a file naming template for core dump can you modify the time specifier from unix epoch time to human readable form on the fly

I read the man core and man date pages and four quality webpages on the topic core dumps. I've been studying and practicing making core dumps for four days now.

The question is well stated in the title of this post.

Note: when I refer to 'core' I also am referring to the kernel parameter kernel.core_pattern and will call it an environment variable. I call it an environment variable because it acts l ...

Set different sample rate for different audio controllers with PulseAudio
th flag

How would one set different samplerate for each audio controller on a system using PulseAudio ?

Default configuration file seems to have nothing for audio controller specific configuration and seems to be general. udev rules 60-persistent-alsa.rules, 78-sound-card.rules and 90-alsa-restore.rules does not seem to set a samplerate or call pulseaudio explicitly.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
