Ubuntu Desktop suspending after changing settings not to suspend
ph flag

First time visitor (with an account) and posting. I have installed Ubuntu Desktop 20.04 LTS on a very low cost, Intel based, mini pc, for the purpose of doing some IoT management, running a few low use apps. Headless config, deployed a "dummy" HDMI connector, no keyboard/mouse. Use either ssh or remotePC to connect into. All is working well for my needs, except for the suspend issue.

The same script worked well for version 160707.

How to mount a broken usb that just can be detected with 'dmesg' (with terminal) but not shows the /dev/usb file

Loading with Rufus a Windows-Image in a USB, it was damaged, ceasing to be recognized by the system. Neither windows nor ubuntu can detect it. I've tried using Windows disk partition editor, the Rufus software itself, KDE partition (I'm using KDE Neon)... and nothing, none of these attempts have worked.

Finally I've been able to detect something with the terminal thanks to this post. Basically it u ...

echo -e "$(echo "This is an uncolored text" | sed "s/{This is an uncolored text}/{This is an \033[0;34uncolored text\033[0m}/g")"

but this works well:

Data recovery from deleted partitions

I accidently deleted two partitions from an external usb drive. One was a blank ntsb partition with about 1gb. The other was a LUKS partition of the rest of the 250gb drive. I did not format or do anything else. When I realized what happened I tried to follow advice on the site and ran testdisk which prompted me to make a backup image which I did. I messed around but didn't manage to get a restoration t ...

Ubuntu does not detect new RAM but BIOS does

I currently want to increase the RAM of my desktop. I bought 8Gb, which appears on BIOS but does not appear in Ubuntu. I have tried changing the slots and ubuntu does not find the new one. Also the computer does not start if I only have the new RAM. Hopefully you can shine some light on this problem.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
