Gnome Tweak Tools keyboard layout options - set only for Bluetooth keyboard?
cn flag

I have this helpful setting enabled in Tweak Tools when I use an annoying external Apple magic keyboard:

enter image description here

This setting makes the keyboard function in my view normal (super key is to the right of the control key).

However, this setting in tweak tool also affect my laptop own keymap. Can I somehow make this setting only for this annoying external Apple magic keyboard?

I had slow bootup recently and found using systemd-analyze that postfix-service is taking almost 25 s to start, critical-chain told me it was specifically postfix@-service.

PS: I also do not know what is postfix@

Upon using journalctrl -u postfix@-.service it shows the following

Unable to login - need to boot into single user and recover password?

A week ago I installed Xubuntu (20.04?) on a Dell Latitude e6530 that had Windows 10 "ready to install" (I never agreed to MS terms, so didn't activate). I was the only user and had root access and (I'm assuming) superuser rights.

After installing Wine and Scribus and learning some how to navigate the system, I changed my password, set to No Password on Login, and noticing I wasn't an administrat ...

I'm looking for some insight on getting my fingerprint reader to work.

I have an HP Envy Model 13-aq0500od dual boot set up with Windows 10 and Ubuntu. The fingerprint reader works just fine with Windows 10 so I know it is operational.

I have googled a few things and one thread said to update the firmware after I searched for the initial error message I received. However I'm pretty sure the fingerprint r ...

I'm working towards backing up a laptop running Ubuntu on ZFS. I have a backup server also running ZFS on some ancillary volumes (not the root).

I made a snapshot of bpool today and sent it to the backup server using zfs send / recv commands:

Ubuntu 20.04.3 server install networking issues
cn flag

I have installed Ubuntu server a lot of times, mostly versions prior to 20.04 obviously, but still. I have done this exact thing in the past on earlier version (versions 16 and 18 most predominately with this exact setup) and never had issues. 20.04.3 breaks this and badly for some reason.

I have created a VM with two network interfaces, one on a DMZ with a static public internet IP address.

Backup and restore ubuntu over ssh
ph flag

I need to backup my ubuntu filesystem through ssh, save in pendrive, format and install. Can anyone point me how can I do that.

I think the steps are:

  1. Connect to the server through ssh
  2. Copy or create the image
  3. Save the image in a pendrive
  4. Format the disk
  5. Rwstore from the image saved in the pendrive

How can I do that

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
