Install specific HWE kernel
tn flag

With Ubuntu 20.04, I know that we can install the latest HWE kernel via sudo apt install linux-generic-hwe-20.04. At the moment, this installs linux-hwe-5.13. However, the drivers for the hardware I am working with only currently support linux-hwe-5.11. How would I go about installing this specific kernel?

Thanks

So a little context first. I'm a first time linux server user :) never tried it before but I'm slowly getting the hang of things. Still learning my way around syntax and the terminal. I'm trying to run plex off of my linux server but most of my media content is on my WDMyCloud. How to connect Microsoft Arc Touch Bluetooth Mouse in Ubuntu 20.04
us flag

I am relatively new to Ubuntu and I am having problems to connect my Arc Touch Bluetooth Mouse to my Dell laptop running Ubuntu 20.04.

I read the answers to this question: Microsoft Arc Touch Bluetooth Mouse not working on Ubuntu 16.04, and found that typing in command line:

$ sudo btmgmt le on

... makes the mouse discoverable and makes it possible to pair and connect and to use it properly.

However, if  ...

How can I prevent auto-mount of 2nd internal drive? (Ubuntu-MATE 20.04.3)
ua flag

When I log in to my main Ubuntu-MATE 20.04.3 (nvme0) OS, my secondary OS install (/dev/sda) is somehow already auto-mounted on the desktop.

I'd like it not to be.

/dev/sda is an internal SSD on which I also have a bootable Ubuntu-MATE 20.04.3 installation.

In my top panel, I've placed the "Disk Mounter" applet, (put there by right-clicking on the top panel and choosing "Add to Panel." Disk Mount ...

FreeRDP on Kubuntu: Autohotkey on remote, Autokey local
in flag

On my local machine (Kubuntu), I use Autokey. On the remote machine (Windows) I use Autohotkey. I have lots of shortcuts setup on both machines. When I'm on the server through FreeRPD and I use a shortcut (like CTRL-NUMPAD2) that exists on both machines, both routines run on the server. I switch back and forth often, so I'd rather not suspend Autokey on the local machine. When I'm running FreeRDP full s ...

Sound is very flaky on Dell Inspiron running 21.10

My Dell Inspiron 3501 is using the Cirrus Logic 8409 sound card. I did a fresh install of Kubuntu 21.10, and sound is very flaky. There does not seem to be a rhyme or reason when it works or not. Sometimes when i reboot, the sound comes back. Sometimes i need to plugin headphones and then unplug them (but that only works on the rare occasion the headphones are detected). Sometimes it stops working  ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
