Firefox creates a firefox.tmp folder in the desktop folder, instead of in the proper /download folder
kr flag

I understand what this folder is used for, but i do not understand why it is created in my desktop folder rather than in the downloads folder. It is a bit annoying as I'm trying to get this folder as clean as possible, with only the ongoing tasks on it. Is there a way to «tell» Firefox to use the downloads folder instead ? This folder exists and is empty... Thanks.

Bluetooth can't find any device after tweaking wifi configuration
bt flag

I've been dual booting Kubuntu and Win10. Both the Bluetooth and WiFi are fine when using from Win10. Here's my system info.

Now, after a while, WiFi signal started to drop quite frequently and also irregularly. Eventually I was forced to change the antenna settings by creating the /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8723be.conf file and appending options rtl8723be ant_sel=2 to this file. That's when the Bluetooth issu ...

Evolution and Chrome hang on start - Keyring problem?
mx flag

Recently, Evolution and Chrome started hanging whenever I try to start them.

I believe the problem has to do with the gnome-keyring: I use Ubuntu 20.04.3 with auto-login. Because of this, my login keyring is not unlocked at login, and applications like Chrome and Evolution that depend on it should generate a password prompt. Usually they do, but as of a few days ago they don't, so they hang and I  ...

How do I install musikcube in 20.04 without having dependency troubles with libavcodec-extra58?

I'm trying to install musikcube on focal. It complains about not being able to install libavcodec-extra, which in turn complains about libavcodec-extra58.

When I try to manually install libavcodec-extra58, I get a large list of things to remove, which can't be right:

The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:

What can I do to make sure the login screen shows on both my monitor and TV?
gd flag

So here is the thing. I have 2 screens connected to my computer. Display mode is "mirror". However when I turn my computer on, the login box is only available on my monitor, not my TV. So even if I just want to use my TV, I have to turn my monitor on and off again just to be able to log in. I'd like to have the login screen on both my monitor and TV when I start my computer. How do I do that ? Thx !

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
