How to install Dropbox under Kubuntu 21.10
us flag

I want to install Dropbox under Kubuntu 21.10. The well-recognized problem is that Dropbox is integrated with the file-maintaining app Nautilus, but Nautilus doesn't play well with Kubuntu. There are many solutions on the Net, but most or maybe all of them are obsolete, a situation that confounds a Google search. kfilebox, which is available at Sourceforge,is one of them, but it has a problem wit ...

Wake On LAN only works when shutting down as root
gf flag

When running systemctl poweroff WOL does not work. Same for systemctl suspend, systemctl hibernate, etc. Running sudo systemctl poweroff etc. results in WOL working properly.

Also after stopping the machine without sudo Wake-on is set to d instead of g.

So the problem is that Wake-on is only set to g when stopping the machine as root. Why is that?

WOL is btw configured through NetworkManager.

Merge two audio files, aligned to the END of the file
mx flag

my phone system records each leg of the audio (transmit and receive) separately.

I have a tool we use that requires a Stereo audio file to function (transmit = left channel, receive = right)

my problem is, the two recordings are of different length based upon when each channel sent its first RTP.

is there a way to use SOX to merge audio while aligning the END of the file?

I am currently using sox -M ...

Ubuntu 20.04 (on HDD) - Do Not Disurb is not turning off, PrtSc and Firefox are unable to save files due to disk being write protected?
cn flag

Do-not-disturb button has stopped working once I turned it on. This is true for both the desktop bar, and inside the settings. Firefox says "the disk/folder/... is write protected, please choose another folder or make the disk writeable" (which it doesnt let me choose)

I guess all the above issues root from the same cause, since they all started at the same time. I am unable to share screenshots  ...

I've connected my hard drive by usb but the contents do not appear in /media.

When I mount it manually using mount /dev/sdb1 /media/user it succeeds.

Deleting folders in /media/username/

I am using kubunu 20.04 from an external usb 3.1 HDD. That means that any time I connect my kubuntu in a new pc/laptop, new folders appear under /media/myusername, depending on the hard drives or media in that computer. Now I am trying to control that with the fstab file, forcing them to mount in a specific folder under /media/myusername instead of the alphanumeric default folder kubuntu creates. My que ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
