Let Android Phone Act as a Monitor for Ubuntu
ar flag

I am using an Android phone and I have wired it to my Ubuntu laptop with USB. I have scrcpy installed, which mirrors Android to Ubuntu, but I'd like a program that does the opposite: mirror Ubuntu to Android so that the Android phone acts as a monitor or secondary display to Ubuntu.

Ubuntu Studio 21.10: creation of OEM setup doesn't work
es flag

Hello and a happy new year

Since years I tried to create in Virtual Box or other machines an OEM setup for "shipping" (as download file), but the dialogue for OEM setup doesn't load but it boot directly to the desktop surface.

Is there a solution that the OEM setup can work or is it really a bug?

Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Ubuntu MATE no problems to create OEM setups

Thank you in advance.

How to prevent MS Teams from adding itself to GNOME session startup programs?
cn flag
raj

I recently installed MS Teams because I was invited to a meeting held via that application. I noticed that MS Teams added itself automatically to GNOME session startup programs, so that it is launched everytime I log in into Ubuntu. I removed it from startup programs, but every time I launch MS Teams, it keeps adding itself to startup programs again (and I have to remove it again from there). How can I  ...

CPU temperature high in Ubuntu, but not Windows
gb flag

Three days ago I started noticing my CPU fan loudly winding up and down when idling (with which I mean not running any particular program). I checked the CPU temperature which was and still is fluctuating between 50°C and 60°C. I also have Windows 10 installed as a dual boot where the CPU temperature readings still are about 40°C and the fans are quiet.

I am using Ubuntu 20.04 now for about tw ...

Launch bar shortcuts vanish after some time

I have Ubuntu 21.04 (upgraded from previous release) and noticed this strange behavior...

Right after reboot, I can see my shortcut icons in the launch bar:

But then after a few minutes, only the 9 dots icon is left...

I also noticed there's no way to show the launch bar by moving mouse to bottom (I have it setup at bottom) no matter what, even though auto-hide is set to True

Is keeping /home in HDD and /root in SSD impact performance or keep both to SSD partition?
my flag

My current laptop is a dual boot and I've installed /root in SSD and /home in HDD. Now, I saw lots of app files in the Ubuntu stored in /home dir (i.e. in my HDD) and when I work my HDD spins a lot, and apps open with a delay so I thought should I also move my /home dir to SSD?

Will it increase my system performance?? If yes, then can I move /home without reinstalling Ubuntu again or there is any ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
