I'm kind of new to ubuntu and I'm having some problems with drivers for my gpu [RADEON RX 550].

when I first installed ubuntu it automatically set "Radeon RX 550 Series (POLARIS11, DRM 3.41.0, 5.13.0-19-generic, LLVM 12..." as the default driver. It happened that I tried to install the official AMD drivers but the process failed and after the reboot I'm stuck with "llvmpipe (LLVM 12.0.1, 128 bits ...

Ubuntu Server 20.04 Crashes when using premade MBR partitons
kr flag

I'm attempting to install Ubuntu on 150GB MBR disk with 3 partitions

/boot 1GiB
swap 8GiB
/ 140.9GiB

The moment the installer starts the format it crashes. Does anyone know what might be the issue?

The disk must remain MBR as part of requirement as I'm using older xenserver hypervisor. It feels like Subiquity is an overall downgrade compared to old debian installer which just worked.

Keyboard layout with japanese mozc
mx flag

I normally used a US keyboard and mozc for Japanese input - which worked.

Recently I was (unsuccessfully) experimenting to setup a real Japanese keyboard in Ubuntu 21.10. I changed $HOME/.mozc/ibus_config.textproto to:

      name : "mozc-jp"
      longname : "Mozc"
      layout : "ja"

After I switched back to my US keyboard, Mozc is still using the Japanese keyboard layout, even af ...

I have a couple of Dell Poweredge T110II lite servers.

When I tried installing 18.04.4LTS, the video output would not match the screen - words off the screen, above, below and off the left side of the screen. No adjustment on the monitor could correct this.

I happened to have a small video card out of a Dell OptiPlex (ATI HD 2400 XT or HD 3450 depending on what website you look at) that I installed ...

So, everytime I start Vivaldi browser or dolphin, or vscode or whatever, it takes 2-3-4 seconds to load the app. I guess this shouldn't be like this.

I've updated/upgraded; From recovery cleaned space, checked system and stuff... May be you can give some light on this situation.

Intel tiger lake CPU not downclocking
cn flag

I have Kubuntu 21.10 installed on an HP laptop with a core i5 11th generation. The problem is that battery drains faster than it should. After investigating the issue it turned out to be the CPU not downclocking at idle causing power waste. I tried changing CPU scaling governor, setting maximum frequency manually but the CPU seems to be ignoring all of this and sticking to 1.6GHz+ frequencies no matter  ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
