I can not open any of evolution's windows when I start evolution

When I start evolution on blank or new window it appears as an icon in the top right. Clicking on it shows windows are there but they will not open. I have used apt to remove evolution and reinstall but the problem remains. One message I received in terminal was: "Your app did not unregister from D-Bus before destruction. What to do after running fsck and messing up partitions?
gf flag

Wasn't sure how to format the question in the title, but bear with me here. Earlier today, I (stupidly) ran fsck. Now, I get a kernel panic message (not syncing), and Ubuntu will not boot.

After doing some research, I think the problem is that the kernel isn't able to read the partition table or something similar. I tried using GParted, and I get a multitude of errors on every single partition sa ...

Can the light and dark theme options in Gnome Control Center be configured?
us flag

In the Appearance tab of System Settings, we can select between light and dark themes.

In Ubuntu 21.10, this selects the Yaru Light them or the Yaru Dark theme, respectively.

Can this control be configured to select a different theme (that has a light and dark variant)? If so, how?

Edit: Thank you for the two comments (not sure where the other one went), I promise to be more careful in the future haha. I managed to save my files thanks to the suggested actions, so thank you very much. Now I'm just going to reinstall everything. Cheers.

First I'd like to just say I'm not great with computers in general, so sorry in advance for anything silly I might say.

Ubuntu 20.04 ARM64 : minimal or how to "minimise" the default install?

It seems there isn't any minimal image for ARM64 architecture for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS; so how do you get/make a minimal version?

I use the AWS Ubuntu 20.04 ARM image and when I compare my packer build between an AMD64 minimal and the default ARM64 I roughly get 150 extra packages in the ARM64 version. The goal is to have a lean ubuntu (and not change distro).

Redirect Transmission port 9091 to 80 on Ubuntu serving with Nginx

The admin of my network is ceaselessly disabling and enabling ports. I want my transmission Web UI to be served over port 80 instead of 9091. My server is running on Nginx not Apache (Apache solution).

Port 9091 is disabled by the firewall.

I created a new file /etc/nginx/conf.d/transmission.conf with the following:

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
