My vm is within a closed network so I cannot use apt install apache2. Instead, I installed manually by the following steps:

  1. tar -xzvf httpd-2.4.51.tar.gz in /home/my_username directory, obtaining httpd-2.4.51 directory
  2. Placed apr-1.7.0.tar.gz, apr-iconv-1.2.2.tar.gz and apr-util-1.6.1.tar.gz underhttpd-2.4.51/srclib/ and tar -xzvf all of them

Connecting to a headless Server for gaming?
us flag

So I'm kind of in deep already with this but basically, I put together a computer its got everything in it EXCEPT a GPU. My thought process here was to connect to it from my main computer and use it as like a dedicated server mostly for Minecraft, I got everything running (I think, the lights are on and nothings exploded) but I'm a little stumped as to the connecting part. Should it already have a OS on ...

how to copy the output of a command to nano editor

I am following a guide to setup wordpress, one of the steps instructs to copy the values of https://api.wordpress.org/secret-key/1.1/salt/ to a section in wp-config.php. I can connect via PuTTY only remotely to this server and I am using the nano editor. The question is how to do this without typing each individual character into the wp-config.

This is my first time ever posting a question and it is driving me insane.

On both 20.04 and 21.10, my Intel Wi-fi adapter works seemingly randomly. Sometimes it shows up and the internet is fine, and other times Ubuntu doesnt detect the Wifi card at all. Below is the result of querying the chipset:

I have a directory with multiple PDF files. Each contains the same images (very high resolution, needs to stay that way), but different text:

my-doc-en.pdf

I have tried concatenating the files like so:

pdftk my-doc-en.pdf my-doc-es.pdf my-doc-de.pdf cat output my-doc-multi.pdf

The output file appear to have a file size that is roughly the same as the sum of the input fi ...

How do I change the env var LD_LIBRARY_PATH by inserting the local path as the FIRST?
cn flag

I am trying to solve a Matlab crash that I am experiencing by following this solution: https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/1567188-simulink-crash-in-ubuntu-20-04

I successfully followed this tutorial, replacing 2.32 with 2.34. However, I have no idea how to change the "env var LD_LIBRARY_PATH" at all. Which commands should I use?

Does the ubuntu live image record anything in the USB drive?
us flag

The usb ubuntu bootable made from an ISO is also a live image if you click "try ubuntu". If I do some stuff in the terminal for example, does it get recorder in any way in the USB stick?

I think that it could mount some part of the USB as a temporary partition, I don't know. Or does it use RAM only for that?

On Ubuntu 20.04 I have a 2TB internal hard drive. In gparted I see that the HD is labeled 2TBDrive (which is the name I gave it). gparted shows that there are 30 GiB on this drive. When I view the drive with a file browser I see that there is no data on the drive.

YouTube videos on Chrome are slow to start
cn flag

I am using Ubuntu 20.04.

I just started to have a strange problem, every time I play a youtube video it has like 10 seconds of the loading screen (where the loading animation plays) and then it starts playing the video. On firefox youtube works fine, no delay in starting the video, so I don't think there is an internet problem. Also, on Chrome, Twitch or any other streaming websites work fine.

After repeated attempts following several guides I have seen to install dual boot or single boot Ubuntu 20.4 on a 2012 Macbook Pro, the process keeps failing when formatting the partition as ext4 from within Ubuntu live cd during installation.

I have no idea how to get around this, all help welcome. Thank you.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
