Dual 4k monitors - only one works at a time though both are discoverable

I recently purchased a couple 4k monitors for my Thinkpad P51s setup with a dock. I previously used two 1080p monitors with no issues via DisplayPort => HDMI connectors from the dock => monitors.

Now with DisplayPort => DisplayPort connections to the monitors, both are discoverable (and light up during boot), but only one is used by Ubuntu once Ubuntu boots up to the login screen.

os-prober and update-grub find windows install, yet it does not show in boot menu
jp flag

My system runs Ubuntu 21.04. I recently moved the system from an old SSD to a new M.2 drive, using Clonezilla. In that process, I needed to run update-grub. The system boots up fine, but I cannot choose to boot the Windows 10 install I have on another drive, it is not in the grub menu when booting.

os-prober and update-grub both seem to find it no problem:

I am trying to control the volume of omxplayer while the track is playing. I can use the keyboards + and keys. However I want to control the volume using a python script. The following script works to pause and unpause omxplayer, by sending p using xdotool.

xdotool does not accept special characters. Is there a work around for this?

When I replace the p with + or , I get the following error:

Why is my drive mounting inside itself?
fr flag

I recently had an issue with my boot drive (which has an lv on it) having space taken up by files on my mounted mdadm RAID0. I used ncdu / to determine this.

When I looks at blkid/mnt/md0 I saw that the raid was done using xfs.

So then I looked at /etc/fstab and it said it was mounted as ext4. So I changed the option in /etc/fstab, then ran sudo umount -a

Next I rebooted, and I saw that the issue  ...

Tried opening lightdm directory for a cybersecurity competition, but it was blank

I'm a completely new and self-taught ubuntu user, so I decided to try it out. I attempted opening this:

sudo nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf

to disable the guest user by typing allow-guest=false but the file itself was completely blank.

I have no idea if that makes any sense, but I am incredibly lost and need an alternative to disable the guest user.

I was using Ubuntu 18.04, for reference.

Boot Issues After 21.10 Upgrade

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
