Playback of music files a little distorted after downloading Audactiy on Ubuntu
cn flag

I attempted to do some editing of an mp3 music file using Audacity on my Linux machine (Ubuntu 18.04).

I downloaded Audacity and did the editing. Afterwards, when I played back my file it was a little distorted. I tried the file on another machine and it was fine. Downloading Audacity has done something weird to the sound playback on my laptop.

I have uninstalled Audacity but the problem persists.  ...

Resetting settings either UI for user or system wifi for the system

I have a user where I am no more happy with UI settings i.e. many UI elements are displayed too big, but I can't recapitulate where I set them.

I have created another user where the UI settings are default so I am very happy but as it seems the wifi settings are global with regards to saved network names but not the passwords. The problem is now that I can't set passwords - as I go to "edit" in t ...

Something is going really wrong with my cmd. I am trying to run a simple 'ls' command and it is impossible. The error says

I tried to find similar question but I didn't managed to fix the problem, and I am afraid that I will make it worse. When I run

pkg-config indicates libxml2 not found
de flag

I've installed libxml2-dev in my Ubuntu 20.04 terminal (under WSL), as it's a requirement for pgModeler. I used sudo apt-get install libxml2-dev and it seemed to install ok. The pgModeler instruction includes "To check if the library is correctly installed" run this command: pkg-config libxml2.0 --cflags --libs For me, this gives:

Package libxml2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.

I'm not sure this kind of question is acceptable here.
I'm thinking of trying terminator.(https://www.tecmint.com/terminator-a-linux-terminal-emulator-to-manage-multiple-terminal-windows/)
The hot key to split the window horizontally is ctrl+shift+O and vertically is ctrl+shift+E. Where do the key E and O come from? Is it from German eben and oben? (I've learned some German and in German eben sounds  ...

Neither Alt key working in Ubuntu 20.04

This has been an issue for a while but I've been able to ignore it by using an external keyboard for my laptop (Dell G3 15). I'm now working away from home and it's becoming unbearable not having access to the various shortcuts using the left Alt key.

I've tried testing with xev and neither key registers anything in the log.

Is there anything else I can try? I've searched around a bit and I couldn ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
