Anne Pro 2 not working on Ubuntu 20.04 startup?
mm flag

My Anne Pro 2 works fine with Windows, absolutely no problems. However, when I boot into Ubuntu, my keyboard appears disconnected. The RGB lights are not on, and the keys do not work. It is strange because during the bootup process the keyboard is lit up and works fine when navigating the grub menu. I already read this post and tried different USB cords, but it did not work.

Suppress display of time on Ubuntu lock screen
pw flag

I am new to Ubuntu. I just installed it as a VM on VirtualBox. Every time the screen locks, I see the time. I am trying to suppress the display of the time. According to this page, I have to edit /usr/share/gnome-shell/theme/ubuntu.css and set font-size to 0pt. The only file under in the folder tree /usr/share/gnome-shell/theme, however, is Yaru/gnome-shell-theme/gresource, and it is binary.

I have machine with only a Ubuntu 21.04 setup on it. It was at 20.04 before and I used tigerVNC to get VNC to run. All was working when I did an upgrade command and it moved me to 21.04 which I did not expect. Now everything else works but my vncserver command cannot start a vnc session. Instead I get the error:

Should I use zfs or ext4 filesysttem on old laptop with SSD?
mw flag

While installing Ubuntu 21.10 on a rather old laptop, I've noticed that I can Also choose ZFS as a filesystem which is apparently has become default on Ubuntu server. As far as I could read it is one of the prides of FreeBSD community as a robust and mature filesystem and is a rather newcomer to Linux ecosystem. So I'm curious about it.

Reduce battery depletion when in suspend mode on Ubuntu 21.10

I recently installed Ubuntu 21.10 on my new machine, dual-booting with Windows (for the time being). My setup is however not the usual setup; I have a /boot partition of 1GB on my disk and a / partition of 128GB setup with LUKS (by selecting "physical device for encryption" in the installer and then selecting it as the root partition).

Now, everything but the suspend mode works fine. When I enable sus ...

I installed the WSL Bash on Windows 10 so it can act as my terminal in VScode, but the default directory is ~/home/USERNAME

I would like it to be /mnt/c/Users/USERNAME (so on my windows domain side)

I'm trying to make a simple shell script to backup files on the same machine but I keep running into errors I don't know how to resolve

Ok, so I use an Ubuntu server 18.04 for my small business and I have very minimal knowledge outside of basic security and running what I need to run. So, apologies if this is a really silly issue.

I want to set up a simple backup script that backups files and stores them in another directory on the same machine.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
