cn flag
s.k

I'm sometimes using this Swiss Army Knife tool called VisualCron when I'm working on Windows for managing many... many tasks, from database backup/restore, to launching remote scripts, and so on.

I was wondering, is there an open source equivalent with a nice GUI for Debian based distributions (Ubuntu)?

I am able to ssh from one host in Mexico to another in New Jersey, but when I start the ssh from the New Jersey host going to the same Mexico host, I get "no route to host". While troubleshooting with tcptraceroute I see that the last 2 ip addresses are duplicates; traceroute hits an infinite loop and stops.

I'm on a laptop with Windows 10 (Intel Core i7-6500U CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.59 GHz, 8 GB RAM), and booting into Ubuntu (20.04) worked fine previously (booting into Windows also still works but it is somewhat buggy since the Ubuntu installation). I looked at similar posts here but solutions (or at least, good guesses of the problem) are hard to come by. For instance, I cannot use any keyboard shortcuts such as  ...

Avoid having to press any key to unlock screen [20.04]

When opening up my laptop (dell xps) from sleep, I would like to be able to just tap the power button for fingerprint login and get straight into my desktop.

Currently there's a lock screen with the time on it and I need to press a key or a mouse press to get to the password/fp login.

How can I disable this screen?

How do I update to a specific version of ubuntu instead of the latest
ru flag

I'm attempting to update a couple of my servers from 16.04 to 18.04. I run sudo apt-get dist-upgrade then sudo do-release-upgrade. It was my understanding this would take my server from the version it's on to the next version, not the latest. One went to 18.04, One upgraded to 20.04. How do I control what the version being upgraded to is?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
