Xrandr XScreens on Multi GPU
us flag

If xrandr is the way to set things up now how do you denote an XScreen (whatever the equivalent is) with it so multi GPU works? Every DE I've tried crashes, hard locks or does not draw to screen correctly if more than one XScreen is set now. So how do you make an xrandr style config with a single XScreen that understands / separates the GPU so things will work correctly?

The xrandr docs denote GP ...

Ubuntu 20.04. How do I turn on the keyboard backlight of my 2010 model Acer Aspire 5745?
dk flag

I am using Ubuntu 20.04. I have an old Acer Aspire 5745-7247 I purchased back in 2010. I looked at the Ubuntu keyboard shortcut options in the keyboard settings, and keyboard backlight isn't listed there. I used to use Fn + spacebar. I have also tried Fn + ScrLk, but no luck. There seems to be no commands or shortcut for this at all. Please help as I really miss having a backlit keyboard.

On Ubuntu 20.04 I have a file on my desktop which I want to delete but every time I do so, it reappears on the next restart. It's a calendar file (.ics). I can't remember exactly how I put it on my desktop in the first place. I may have moved it there from a samba share or exported it from Thunderbird or Google calendar. I tried removing it both by clicking on it and hitting Delete and by typing the fo ...

I have switched to Ubuntu recently and I just can't get nvidia to work properly, major problem is screen tearing, however there are many more.

GTX 1660TI I have tried to solve screen tearing with multiple ways, using the control panel and forcing the compositor pipeline and both answers here (which just made it worse by making the screen tearing even harder), while enabling the composition pipeline ...

Why is my PHP CLI Curl version different from curl and libcurl even if I try to force it with --with-curl flag during compilation?
br flag

I have compiled PHP after compiling Curl 7.73 .

Curl -v shows me it's 7.73, and if I go to my web server and check phpinfo() output it's also 7.73 .

However, the compiled php cli is showing me that it's running Curl 7.68 !

In order to confirm this, I checked the output of php --ini and also ran a script from cli to get the output of curl_version() .

In order to try to force php cli curl version to be 7.73 ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
