MDADM RAID0 issue
vn flag

I had previously set up a RAID0 array with 4 drives of 14tb each that was getting full.

Yesterday I decided to add one more drive to it and temporarily changed the array to RAID4.

I heard it was supposed to get back to RAID0 automatically a day or two after.

Yesterday evening, my computer had an issue with the boot drive and ended up completely frozen, we tried everything but I had to reinstall Ubuntu  ...

How can Ubuntu Core be installed to lxd?
de flag

As described by http://ubuntu.com/blog/ubuntu-core-in-lxd-containers, Ubuntu Core can be installed via http://snapcraft.io/lxd by executing lxc launch images:ubuntu-core/16 ubuntu-core. The tutorial is outdated because the most new version of Ubuntu Core is appearing to be 20 instead of 16, so I did execute lxc launch images:ubuntu-core/20 ubuntu-core, which has failed to do what it should have done. ...

Creating bonded interface with new Ubuntu Server 18.04 install does not work

Final Update I started fresh again with DHCP on the client LAN. It successfully installed and was able to resolve the address to grab updates. Since a bond was not created initially, I installed ifenslave, and configured the bond manually using the server LAN at the gateway. I applied the configuration with netplan apply, and everything started working. ip route shows the routing table with the co ...

I'm not really advanced with linux but this seems like a beginner problem I can't solve.

I have a controller ( BLE controller running Zephyr hci_usb sample ) and it only works with a couple bluetooth services but not some others.

Here are the results I'm getting when I'm trying to find it and if I can scan with it:

I have a computer with hardware not supported by the kernel in Ubuntu 18.04. Ubuntu 20.04, however, recently got a kernel that does support it. I took the following kernel packages from 20.04, installed them on 18.04, and everything appears to be working just fine.

I've just built a PC with a Ryzen R7 5700G APU, and it's working well under Ubuntu 20.04.3 except for the fact that I can't get OpenCL to work.

So far I've mostly tried installing AMDGPU and AMDGPU Pro, and have tried releases 21.30, 21.20, and 21.10, and have tried these on both Ubuntu 20.04.3 and 20.04.2. I also tried AMDGPU and AMDGPU Pro 20.30 with Ubuntu 20.04.1. But no luck with any of thes ...

Set JAVA_HOME in Ubuntu without "install" the JDK
ec flag

I've just downloaded and extracted the JDK archive, next moving it to my /opt directory. Inside IntelliJ, everything is working properly. I just point the path to the JDK in the settings. But I cannot issue java -version command... It says that I need to "install" Java... The question is: how can I set JAVA_HOME environment variable in Ubuntu, without actually "install" the JDK? Thanks!

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
