Installing Wi-fi Drivers on Ubuntu Server 20.04
ru flag

I recently purchased a USB Wi-fi Adapter from Amazon for my Ubuntu server. The reviews say that it is compatible with Ubuntu 20.04 but the drivers for Ubuntu don't come on the included driver CD. I was wondering where I could find the correct drivers for the adapter. The adapter is linked below. If anyone can help, that'd be very appreciated.

Two identical bash scripts in the same directory behave differently. What am I doing wrong?
ph flag

I'm just starting on Ubuntu, trying to figure things out. I'm a little confused.

Short version of my questions:

A) Making my bash scripts executable doesn't seem to be working reliably. It just inexplicably won't work sometimes, even when using the same steps on identical scripts in the same directory.

B) When I can get the executability to work, sometimes two identical scripts seem to behave different ...

Installed app from source but then accidentally deleted source code before uninstalling, can I uninstall the app?
ly flag

I built a program from source then went to pull the code and build again to get a more recent version but my pull wasn't working so I deleted the directory before uninstalling the app (dumb) and now whenever I try to build the app again or try to install via apt it doesn't overwrite the old version. The version I am using is 0.1.12 and the current release is 0.4.0. Am I just screwed here?

How to change default laptop power mode 21.04
ca flag

Ubuntu 21.04 comes with new native power modes which can be changed in settings. These settings are powered by the GNOME power-profiles-daemon. However, I've noticed that power mode on my Dell XPS 13 (model 9310 with kernel 5.11.0-31-generic) is always set to balanced by default, whether the laptop is plugged in or on battery.

I would like to set the power mode default to high performance, either all  ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
