I am trying to get sound to play across HDMI on my Ubuntu 18.04 thinkpad x1 carbon laptop. Video works fine.

Fullscreen window breaks other windows' resolution

I am playing Minecraft fullscreen on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. Whenever I do Alt-Tab to another program (like nautilus, firefox, ...) it only renders 1/4th of the program's window.

Is this a bug and/or how do I fix this situation?

I'm on Kubuntu 21.04 with a laptop that has a ryzen 5800H (with integrated gpu) and RTX 3050. I'm pretty new to linux so I'm probably doing something wrong, I need explanations that a 5 year old could follow...

My issue seems to be that my graphics drivers aren't loaded properly. I installed the latest nvidia driver i could find (nvidia-driver-470) via the apt tool and yet i get this:

Launching new apps splits screen space by half automatically. How to disable this?

Whenever I open/launch new apps , the existing app moves to one side of screen , kind of like splits the screen space by half automatically (in the same monitor and same workspace) . I want the newly opened app to be in the foreground, instead of be in a split screen.

virtual machine not getting ip from dhcp server

After giving the command sudo nmcli it gives me all the details for my network adapter but there I have found one line in red "p2p-dev-wlp43s0: disconnected"

The question is that when I am using my vmware virtual machine it does not get an ip address from the dhcp server.

Every setting is correct I tried to use nat everything.

Laptop display goes blank after update

I have an hp elitebook 840 g5 with an intel i5 8th gen cpu. I have found that the stock kernel for Ubuntu 20.04.03 will not correctly enable the backlight on the laptop screen. The screen will show the hp logo and then go black. If I connect a monitor and change the display, I can see the desktop.

Running cachefilesd cache on ramdisk (tmpfs) for PXE NFS boot

I am running ubuntu 20.04 LTS (kernel 5.4.0-81-generic) from PXE and I wish to add a local cache. Because I don't want to have a partition on all my devices for caching, I wish to use a ramdisk for that purpose.

Can't seem to use my printer

I am trying to use my HP printer. First I plugged it in and it showed up as a printer but I couldn't print from it. I eventually used the sudo chmod +x ./hplip-3.21.6.run successfully writing over the hplip-3.20 version that was native to 20.04.3 with ./hplip-3.21.6.run Currently, I have an HP circle in the top right menu bar but clicking it has it claim that there are "No Installed HP Devices Found"
