Can't find option to switch between RST and AHCI
lk flag

So I have an HP OMEN 15-dc0xxx and was trying to dual boot Ubuntu 20.04 alongside Windows. Almost all guidelines I have seen on the subject mention switching controller mode to AHCI, but I can't find it anywhere in BIOS! I also have optane but I disabled it beforehand, and still can't find controller mode.

I am having some issue with sshfs. It used to work in the same condition. I mount Downloads directory from my desktop to my laptop.

Now when I try to do it, everything seems to work fine, except no file/dir is visible in the mointpoint directory.

I use the following command to mount:

sshfs [email protected]:/home/laptopuser/Downloads /home/laptopuser/mnt/mnt

Persistent boot issue (Initramfs)

I am currently running Ubuntu 16.04 in my pc, and almost everytime the computer boots up, the control drops to the initramfs shell. I understand that this is because my ext4 drive is corrupt, and apply the fix that was mentioned in multiple help forums : run fsck -f /dev/sdaX

The computer boots up perfectly fine after this, but once again the issue is back to haunt me at the very next bootup. What c ...

Libre Writer showing only blank icons, how to get the file menu (and tools to change setting)
in flag

I recently opened Libre Write (LibreOffice), and noticed that the entire top bar is just a set of icons. I can get to a more contextual menu by right clicking the top bar, but "file", "tools", "settings" are all missing, doesn't seem to be a way to change the top bar to not be icons.

How would I go about changing this to contain a context menu?

Is it safe to install Ubuntu from a bootable USB made on pirated Windows 7?

I found out that I was using a pirated version of Windows 7, so I migrated to Linux OS by downloading an .ISO file and making a USB bootable via Rufus.

People says that using pirated versions is risky because they may have malware and viruses that can automatically be saved in files and folders so I'm not sure that is it safe and legal to install Linux from a pirated version of Windows does infec ...

How do I tell the Ubuntu bootloader to boot from a different drive?

This should be a simple question. My system is set to dual boot Ubuntu 20.04 and Windows 10. I previously had only a small SSD (256 GB), so I had only the EFI partition and the Windows system partition on the SSD and the Ubuntu partition on an internal HDD. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
