Make an installation USB fash drive to install 20.04 LTS desktop using http to image desktops and laptops
ie flag

This is about imaging desktops and laptops by field techs.

In rhel/centos, I can create a usb installation drive that will boot up a vmlinuz image, then pull the remaining info to boot up (eg initrd) by pulling it from an http server. It will then pull a kickstart configuration file from the http serverand build the system, again pulling everything from an http server. Easy, peasy.

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS - can't make a bootable USB flash drive
ie flag

I'm trying to create a bootable USB drive for 20.04. If I do a 20.04 downloaded image, I can boot the drive properly. However, if I extract all the 20.04 content to a directory, then recreate the ISO and dd that to the drive, the resulting drive won't boot. My zbook just beeps and goes back to the boot menu. The command for creating the ISO I got from several articles. But I'm certain it has to be the  ...

How to listen a result from a command using tail?
mx flag

I would like to perform this command:

tail -f | tac myfile.txt

tac reverts the order of the lines, the command works fine, except for the "listen" part.

When the file is updated, the tail command doesn't update the console.

Is it possible to perform this?

Git Terminal in Linux

I'm new in Ubuntu or Linux in general. I just switched from Windows to Linux to keep my work here. Actually working as web developer.

I use Git commands a lot, and when I clone a repo, I don't get that good looking terminal like I had with Git Bash on Windows, like giving me branch name when I'm inside a folder, some autosuggestions/autocomplete...

Where are bluetooth configuration files and how are they accessed?

There would seem to be a finer-grained level of control over bluetooth from a Microsoft Surface tablet than that available on Ubuntu at least through the settings interface.

How are additional bluetooth settings, particularly those related to microphones and speakers, accessed?

Add/remove custom OpenVPN routes?

I have imported several .ovpn files via Network Manager. Each file accesses my VPN provider via a different location.

Not surprisingly there are some web sites that do not like the VPN and so I want to bypass the VPN for just those sites. I would like to do so without having to edit each of the ovpn files or configurations via the Network Manager UI.

I have found I can add my 'override' routes to  ...

I apologize in advance for how I am stating my question. I am not an audio person, the whole audio setup confuses me. I’m stating my question the best I know how. I can supply more information if I’m told what is needed.

Increase TDP on 3060 Laptop GPU

I have a Legion 5 Laptop with a 3060 GPU. I can switch the power profiles with an FN button. On the medium and high settings it uses 130W on Windows, on the silent one 80W.

On Ubuntu 20.04 with kernel 5.8.0 and NVIDIA driver 465.19.01 the GPU only uses up to 80W. No matter the power profile. This effectively limits the GPU's performance.

How can I increase the TDP? I already tried setting the TDP vi ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
