cn flag

I am currently using Debian 10 and I was using Ubuntu 20.04 LTS along with Windows 10 Home in dual boot. And to install Debian 10, I have deleted the Ubuntu partition from disk-manager on Windows. After installing Debian, I could still find Ubuntu entry in BIOS and it had it's grub as well. So, as stated in this article, I tried to remove it from the boot entries, by doing the following, I couldn't.

I've been looking at this off and on all day, I've read several posts on S.O. and several blogs, and it seems like the general consensus is that XAMPP Control Panel is run from the terminal.

I have an icon on the desktop and in the launcher, both of which point to the same command that I enter in terminal, but when I use the icon, XCP shows on the taskbar for a  ...

how to take the time difference between two dates and time
ch flag

I have access logs from my server. I need to take the time difference between two logs. My access logs have the following time format: "14/Apr/2021 06:25:09".

To take the difference between two timestamps, I thought to convert the given time stamps in seconds since epoch and then take the difference.

Example of access log:

I tried with headphones and speaker, ...

Ubuntu 21.04 reboots itself, sometimes hibernates

So, I've been having this problem for a while, since 18.04 I guess. My computer reboots out of nowhere. It is really, really random. The only thing I've noticed is that it only happens when my CPUs are idle, it never happened while I was working on something or playing. Also, sometimes it doesn't reboot, but my screen goes entirely black and it never comes back, so I have to force the shutdown by pressi ...

Why does Transmission no longer open a port with Upnp enabled?
us flag

Transmission was working well until about a week ago, and then quit opening a port. Upnp is enabled in both the router and Transmission. All ports show stealth mode by grc. Had a friend check Transmission on his computer and he also found it no longer opens a port. Has ubuntu done something that requires action in order to make upnp work in Transmission?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
