xfce restart application in place
cn flag

I was wondering if there was a way I could create a shortcut that would restart the currently focused application in place. By this I mean that the application would close and then relaunch with the same command line flags etc. in the same screen location, so that applications that rely on startup resources could be changed and quickly restarted.

Da Vinci Resolve: How to open and execute a putty terminal in Ubuntu 20.04?
kh flag

I'm trying to install Da Vinci Resolve for Ubuntu using a guide on the Blackmagic forum which tells me to open a "putty terminal" by pressing Ctrl + Alt + F1 but this locks my screen. I've already installed Putty but am not sure how to proceed.

I'm not that savy with linux so all help would be welcome. Here's the link to the forum guide I was referring to:

Custom Ubuntu Core images purpose or benefit?
ke flag

I followed this tutorial on how to make a custom image: https://snapcraft.io/tutorials/create-your-own-core-20-image#1-overview

Is the purpose of making a custom image just to include custom snaps? Is the primary benefit that it saves you having to install snaps after installing the default core image?

Disks reports "Disk is OK, 5439488 bad sectors"
us flag

That seemed to me to be a helluva lot of bad sectors. This is a SATA M.2 SSD, but I thought those things took care of hiding bad sectors without the operating system having to bother its pretty little head about them. Ubuntu 20.04 seems to be able to count these bad sectors, yet still announce that the disk is "OK".

Is the disk "OK"? I'd been having mysterious error messages announcing that "Ubun ...

There are a lot of packages which are to be autoremoved. But I think some of them are very important. What to do?
kp flag

I wanted to remove kubuntu-desktop from my pc and I used apt remove kubuntu-desktop*. It did remove kubuntu-desktop but it said that there were a lot of packages to be autoremoved. I looked at those packages and think they were very crucial. I search in the internet and found that I should not use * to remove packages. Now what should I do ? I haven't removed those packages yet.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
