On my Start-up Applications Preferences there is a strange program.

It is called im-launch. It is associated with this command:

I do not recognize this command and I do not understand it. Maybe, my memory is tricking me but I do not remember inserting this on my personal computer.

After update, primary disk w/MBR lost mount point and will not boot
us flag

My primary MBR disk is encrypted using LUKS. I ran the recommended updates and lost the mount points on all 3 of my HDD's. Here is the fdisk and blkid for my primary drive. The others I use for storage only, so I'm not concerned about restoring mount points for those, but I sure do not want to have to reinstall 18.04. I do not want to have to reinstall all of my software.

Issues with sound since pavumeter is installed
bw flag

I have an issue with VLC, I have no sound playing until I start Pavumeter. It happens since I've installed Pavumeter.

To purge the package doesn't solve the issue, it's even worse since I have then no sound at all.

It was working fine for a few months, until I installed pavumeter to check my surround. Since then, when I start VLC, I have no sound playing. It's only when I start pavumeter that the so ...

Have no info about video driver (ASUS-PRO50/20.04)
vn flag

I'm trying to use UBUNTU 20.04 on my old laptop ASUS PRO50 with a Radeon HD3458/3478 graphics card.
But I have a lot of troubles...

Question is: when typing

sudo lshw -c video | grep 'configuration'

I got only:

configuration: latency=0

On a clean install, also after an installed PPA driver.
Why? And where is the video driver?

su: System Error, Cannot log in as root

I am using Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. After installing it, the su command worked perfectly (I was able to log in), but after rebooting the system, whenever I run su, it says:

The user rakin doesn't have sudo access, so I am in big trouble. How can I fix this?

I saw an unofficial alternative called WhatsDesk and I would like to ask if the application is safe in terms of privacy and usability. I know there is Whatsapp web, but I would prefer to keep this option as the last. Thank you for the answer and have a great day!

I connected two Ubuntu machines (A=20.04, B=16.04) with a Netgear RP614v2 router. On both computers, I enabled file-sharing of their Public folder. In addition, on computer A I enabled file-sharing of a USB hard drive (Both computers installed Samba without error).

Events in gnome calendar spanning two days in notification center

I use gnome calendar on daily basis. But for some reason now a single event is lasting for 2 days instead of one. I'm on Ubuntu 21.04. I don't think this bug existed when I was on 20.10.

In the gnome calendar app, it shows that the event is a day long but whenever I open the calendar in the notification center it instead shows the same event lasting for two days instead of one.

When I drag and drop a file from Krusader to my terminal, it quotes the filename with single quotes but adds a newline before the closing quote.

I then have to do Ctrl-C to correct the quoting before I can go on with my command.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
