Ubuntu Studio lost the ability to restart

I have installed Ubuntu Studio 21.04 on a Samsung Series 5 notebook. Everything went fine and the system worked properly. A week or so ago, it lost the ability to restart. That is, if I right click on the desktop, select Leave, and select Restart, the system shuts down and does not reboot. In addition, if I open a console window, enter

MokManager hangs when no display is present
in flag

We are using NUC10i3FNB devices headless in an IoT application. When upgrading kernel to 5.11.0-22 on Ubuntu 20.04 it requested MOK manager to run to install additional keys.

With no display, these devices never ever boot again, until a display is connected during boot. Is this a bug with MokManager or with NUC?

Also as workaround is there a way to cancel MokManager loading on next boot? In other wo ...

Where is the upstream source repository for keyboard layouts used in Ubuntu?

I am aware keyboard layouts in Ubuntu are set in two different places: keyboard-configuration/keyboard-setup take effect only on ttys and the logon screen (at a minimum in MATE, not sure about other flavors), and there is a GUI in system settings which affects only the desktop session.

Where can I find the upstream source repositories for the keyboard layouts used (both tty and desktop session) in Ub ...

21.04 Black screen after suspend Nvidia + Intel integraded GPU

My set-up is a bit unusual. I have a i5-10600k. I use the integrated GPU for display as my GPU is a Nvidia K80 (no display, only for computing).

Before installing the Nvidia drivers, suspend works.

I tried various things found on stackoverflow (e.g. blacklist nouveau driver). I really lost count of what was done as I've been through 20+ install of Ubuntu trying to fix that and other issues that aros ...

colemak keyboard layout is available in ubuntu, but its two variants mod DH and mod DHm are not available in ubuntu. DHm mod overcomes its major problem of "H" key location. It should be included in ubuntu. It would be very helpful and much needed.

Inconsistent audio output when selecting default audio device - Ubuntu 20.04

Why does 'apt-get remove' leave configuration files in /etc?

I can understand keeping configuration files in /home, since these are custom files that have been created/edited by the user when running the corresponding program.

In contrast however, configuration files in /etc must be created and edited as root, and given that most programs do not run as root, they must be created when their corresponding program is installed, and not be edited thereafter. This  ...

How to uninstall ROCM previous version and reinstall ROCM 4.2 version

My main objective is to get OpenCl installed on my Ubuntu 20.04 given that I have a AMD-Radeon GPU so that I use render on Blender. As Blender does not see OpenCL, the rendering is presently done with my CPU. Before dealing with OpenCL, ROCM needs to be replaced to 4.2 version. Unfortunately no direct update is possible.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
