Why NordVPN disables network access to Linux machine using UFW
ro flag

So I'm having some strange interactions lately. I've got Ubuntu 20.04 installed with Plex Media Server. I followed a guide (https://www.comparitech.com/blog/vpn-privacy/how-to-make-a-vpn-kill-switch-in-linux-with-ufw/) to install UFW, OpenVPN and configured both to allow traffic outside the network only through tun0. Internal network traffic is supposed to still be allowed through UFW.

How to remap CapsLock to a Gnome keyboard shortcut?
de flag
ARX

On Ubuntu 20.04, I want to switch to the workspace above by just pressing the CapsLock key. However, the following does not work:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings switch-to-workspace-up ['capslock']

Neither can I do it from the GUI, because in Settings, CapsLock is not recognized. But anyway, my need is to be able to do it from the command line.

How to, pls?

Cannot connect to OpenVPN or Wireguard after updating wifi driver
ru flag

I think I have messed up my network driver and hence it has messed up OpenVPN and WireGuard installations.

My laptop gets disconnected pretty often from the Wifi, and it was driving me crazy. So I checked for a solution and somehow came up with this driver, I'm still not sure whether my network card really fits this model or not.

HDMI audio not detected
cn flag

I'm on Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS, on a thinkpad T480. I just bought a new TV, and would like to use it to play audio/video from my computer, over HDMI. Video works fine, but I can't seem to get audio working. I know it's not a problem with the TV or the cable, because my nintendo switch works fine. I don't think it's a problem with my computer's sound card, because I've played sound over HDMI in the past (with ...

Using ffmpeg to combine a set of TIFFS to video
id flag

I want to use ffmpeg to join a large set of TIFFS to a video. In Windows the input part of the command is -i K:\horses3\%06d.tif where K: is the drive that holds a folder called 'horses3' and all TIFFS are 6 characters in length. How do I translate 'horses3\%06d.tif' in Ubuntu? When I try it tells me that 'horses3' is a directory.

What of these versions\options have I to download to install an Ubuntu Server that will be accessed only via SSH (no desktop mode)

I am not a system engineer (I am more a software developer) and I have the following doubt. I have to download an Ubuntu ISO in order to use it on a VCenter instance. Bascailly this will be for a server that will host a server application (it is not intended for desktop user, the connection to this machine will be done only via SSH). It will be used for a production environemtn so I suppose that a nice  ...

Noob question... sorry! New question on old problem! Only a year old user and can't locate any apps installed except with hTop, and it's may be great, but way to overwhelming!

The reason I wanted a good GUI for shutting down processes that SHOW running process in graph, is I installed, and was setting up 20,04, yesterday and ... my laptop "fan" is on "ALL the time." And I have 100% battery, and i ...

Ubuntu says my disk is full but it's not
il flag

I am running Ubuntu on VirtualBox. I've allocated around 100GB of disk space for the OS, yet whenever I try and download an application (i.e. VSCode), I get an error that my disk usage is high and I am out of memory. I've only downloaded a few things such as Chrome, and Nodejs so I'm not sure why it's saying I am out of memory.

Just a caveat, I am very new to Linux.

Edit: My native OS is Windows 11  ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
