Hello fellows Ubuntu users ! I hope this is not a duplicate but I need help on my computer. Since I switched from Kubuntu to Ubuntu (both 20.04 LTS), I keep having issues with this computer. I thought everything was repaired today when I wanted to start my camera on Discord and it didn't show up, I then had a look at the settings of Discord and saw no camera device. I then checked on the internet what w ...

How to list files and folders backed up by Deja Dup?
fr flag

I'm using Deja Dup to back up my data to Google Drive. Would like to know how to list all files & folders that are currently backed up. I don't think it's possible through the GUI, so I'm wondering how to do it through the terminal, perhaps with duplicity?

The default 100% scaling looks good on the laptop monitor but things are too small on the external 4K display. 200% with fractional scaling disabled looks good on the monitor (a little bit too big maybe) but huge on the laptop, I can't seem to have per monitor scalin ...

Ubuntu ZFS - /boot/efi/grub mounted at /boot/grub in fstab - normal?
de flag

I'm noticing a "new" line in fstab I've never noticed before, and I'm wondering if it has to do with this installation being on ZFS

AFAICR /boot/grub has always existed independent of the efi partition, but in the case of this new installation, it lives on /dev/nvme0n1p1 (the efi partition) in /grub and then is bind mounted to /boot/grub

Here's the exact line in /etc/fstab:

I have recently received an nvidia update on my Ubuntu 21.10 OS and I am now using nvidia-470, which does not let me use the intel graphics card. I used it for my daily laptop use, because it improved my battery life, and used to change to NVIDIA (Performance Mode) when I wanted to play a videogame. Now I am worried that my battery life will worsen. Are there any tips for me to improve my battery life g ...

"dpkg: warning: missing file from the list of files" Everything is missing

I asked someone to install some basic stuff in an Ubuntu 20.04.3 server. I'm not an expert, but I know this is a fairly easy task to do, even for someone with little experience dealing with a server.

They successfully installed a couple of the programs needed, but then went back to me telling me that they had trouble installing Apache, which is odd given how straightforward this installation is.

dual boot: cant open bios

I am attempting to dual boot a pc I built using ubuntu 18.04 and windows 10. I successfully installed ubuntu on one of my ssds. I began installing windows on the other ssd. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
